Torn between skoda kamiq monte carlo and sel executive
matchbox replied to Sunder75's topic in Škoda Kamiq
‘Sport’ mode is also useful to obtain lower gear long descents. Also gives better driving experience on winding country roads. -
I had same issue on a Tiguan and earlier Golf. In fact Kamiq is better!

If there was one thing I would change about my Kamiq…

Let’s make this clear. I am delighted with my(2nd)Kamiq and it is great and often under appreciated car. My original post was more tongue in cheek and certainly not a gripe. Just a touch of whimsy,so please lighten up. -

Do you mean higher profile tyres on smaller rims? -
The bleeping when you open drivers door when engine is running! Totally unnecessary. What’s your pet gripe?

I had a 1.5 SEL manual and was amazed by its good mpg figures. Far better than the 1.0l I have now. Was not so keen on digital cockpit and much happier with analogue display in my SE. Very subjective of course.

Thanks for responses. I guess it’s 4 winters or none then!
-
Many drivers in my rural area fit winters to front only. However, looking for quotes online tyre dealers state they will only fit as a set of four. I wonder what the forum thinks about this and is it safe? Particularly miffed since I bought a couple of used wheels to swap over for winter use!

I have just changed from a 1.5 SEL manual with 18” Goodyear tyres to an SE 1.0 110 dsg on 17” Continental tyres and they are definitely quieter but not silent. Much depends on road surface and some in my area are whisper quiet, others not. Another factor to consider when changing wheels is driving characteristics. My new car is much lighter to drive and more precise, though this could be as much to do with the weight over front wheels. Suspension bushings will also affect the amount of noise transmitted.

For what it’s worth I had a Tiguan with similar problem and needing new pano roof. I was concerned as you are about damage etc. but it was absolutely spotless with no sign of the work done. It will of course depend on the capabilities of the fitter.

I think mine were installed using double sided tape.

My New Kamiq arrived at Dealer minus Blind Spot Detection 😞

Take the car! In my opinion nice to have but not worth paying extra for. And if you’ve never had it before you won’t miss it, -
Standard on the SEL
-
Lessons learnt! Never looked. Incidentally the ‘star screws’ are called Torx. Becoming increasingly common now.
-
Seems to be standard on the SE L. I think it is more decorative than functional and possible fixed with adhesive strips.
-
Strangely nobody seems to list replacement wipers for the Kamiq! But they are 65 & 45 cm and I have Aerotwins on order. Even Bosch website doesn’t list them. Wonder why?
-
No noise on my 1.5.

If Infotainment is off a clock appears on the screen. You can use gesture control to select between analogue, digital and (I think) time & date. Only discovered this by accident! Analogoue clock is rather nice as the seconds are shown as blinking dots around the periphery!
-
Still amazed! Just done 500mls round trip and recorded 55mpg. Extraordinary for a 1.5 petrol. Does this engine have the system of switching cylinders off? Noticed symbol ‘Eco’ appears on display, usually when coasting or on light throttle.

Very pleased with my Kamiq 1.5 SEL and amazed by the low fuel consumption averaging 45mpg over 1300 mls..But a constant irritation is the time it takes to load my personal profile. It takes at least a minute which seems excessive. Particularly if you need to use satnav or even the radio. I wonder if others experience this?
-
Thanks - that’s much easier.

I’ve been amazed by the mpg on my 1.5. Around 40mpg on shorter journeys and 50+ on longer runs.

Sorted! Though not using video which had a different steering wheel. From ‘Menu’ screen select ‘Vehicle’. Then select Settings in bottom right corner. The menu then shows an option for ‘Instrument cluster’. Select this and scroll to bottom of list is an option to reset Trip recorder. You can also reset the long term and journey recorders there. Not exactly intuitive needing multiple button touches. My Tiguan had a physical button at base of screen to reset trip. Personally I find a trip meter useful to record specific journeys.

Thank you. I’ll see if that works on mine.
