the truth about electric cars
A point with buying one of those pre-registered cars is that although, you are essentially buying a brand-new car, you are also buying a car that is very likely to be out of date in respect of the latest model could well have extra features added in and maybe even had a face lift which will date your car quicker. Thats all fine if those things don't matter to you, and you are planning on keeping the car for a long period.

The real problem here is of course, the usual suspects always insisting that their version of events is the only valid version in town and always having to have the very last word in every discussion.

the truth about electric cars
Another video I just watched about a Tesla Model 3, and it's good and bad in equal parts and the video was I felt totally unbiased and other car manufacturers should be worried by what they have got right, but I'll leave it there, and let you if you feel inclined to watch the video, discover more for yourselves. What is going on this forum, or at least this thread seems to be pretty dead today?

the truth about electric cars
Just watched this video about Chinese BEVs, and it made me doubt the so-called better Chinese more affordable EV's that are coming on stream and it also shows my concerns about the extra enhanced speed and acceleration available from these electric cars with their instant torque that some people love to brag about there ability to show up ICE cars at traffic light starts for example. There are loads of other things that happen with their self drive systems and many other issues and also alleged fake safety tests etc.

Lobby groups need to be banned there are way to many of them and whatever they are pushing is always going to more beneficial for certain groups of people who are going to be making millions at the expense of the country and majority of the British population.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol Thank you for at least acknowledging that the charging did not quite go as planned, I hear so many times that the chargers are always accessible, no problems in getting them to work and no waiting for one to be free etc, but in the real world we all know that is not the reality. You broke the journey up with a stop-over and a 12 hour charge at your brothers in Cambridge, many would not have that luxury, they would have to get on Monday and drive to Felixstowe, do whatever they had to do there and back again on the same day. Hardly a walk in the park then was it, but that hopefully will improve one day with more range and plentiful charger locations, its not currently anywhere near as good fossil fuel stations, even if one is out of order due to construction work, there is normally in towns, another within a mile or so away so that last stretch to Rugby should happen with an ICE but hey, as I said that will get better, and well done for not glossing over the problems you encountered.

the truth about electric cars
But if you look at the historical facts, climate change has been happening for thousands of years, so it is a natural thing anyway. At one time, there was no English Channel, but there is now, was also that the result of global warming brought about by massive CO2 emissions from ICE?

the truth about electric cars
It always pays when ever possible to follow the money as well as look for linkages to other organisations as all too often they all have vested interests in taking the viewer/listener/reader down a particular path to get to a desired conclusion. For instance, is this one not looking for a favourable outcome from their research, being funded by a foundation for the protection of the environment?

Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.
Another electric school bus goes up in flames, no injuries reported.

Yeah, the one you posted was about the same incident, but was the arsonist who was I guess arrested in Oct 2024 and charged with the fire and a further 4 crimes.

The odd thing here is that the cars in Dundee were set on fire, no question about that (apparently, common in Dundee) but that fire was Sept 19th 2024? Crews tackle 'ferocious' car fires on Charleston Drive in Dundee

the truth about electric cars
Already are putting on extra layers / hats / gloves etc and have dropped the temperature on the central heating a couple of degrees. Don't have swimming pool or horses or even stables, they fall into the have's sector, not the have-nots. Unable to put an extra bar on the fire, and that if we did so would only exasperate the National Grids problem with coping with the demand, and how many homes these days have real fireplaces, and even if you have one, it means we are burning fossil fuels which are allegedly the cause of the current problems and would assist in the making of the perfect storm?🤔

the truth about electric cars
I really do feel that the EV cause would be greatly enhanced, if there was less governmental pressure on trying to enforce this change on people and the full pursuit of net-zero instead of going for a reduction in carbon emissions. As @Stonekeeper has already pointed out Thursday at 22:46 In 2023, the United Kingdom became the world’s first major economy to halve its emissions relative to 1990 levels. We are miles ahead of the curve so we could really afford to take our foot off the throttle a bit and wait for the rest of the world to catch up. It is not like the cleaner air of the UK stays in the UK, it gets blown all over the globe, and in the same way, we also heavily polluted air for the rest of the world transported here in the winds, just as we get fine sand particles deposited here from the Sahara and other places. We would be far better served by ensuring that we as a whole country, not just Scotland have energy self-sufficiency so can continue to exploit our natural resources and not cap in hand to other countries to help us out and potentially play ring into the hands of an adversary like say Russia where they could effectively turn off our source of energy and bring us to our knees even without a single shot being fired. They would only need to wait until we have most of the transport being electric and then a dunkelflpute and we would be an easy target. Russia has vast reserves of oil and anybody is of the impression that they would not exploit that for their own evil benefit, needs to wake up and wise up, in my view. I still say the electrification does indeed have a place in the modern era but that place where it is the dominant means of transportation needs to come along when all pitfalls of the batteries and our grid fragility and energy capacity needs to grow rapidly to cope with the demand and the issues with people not having off-road charging capability, resolved to ensure that the country can still continue to function normally under the harshest conditions imaginable. That to my mind of paramount importance and needs to come way ahead of virtue signalling any green credentials.

the truth about electric cars
No smoke without fire, if this is true, we could be caught out big time, or is it BS? One thing it does do is make you think and perhaps makes us realise just how close we could be sailing to trouble.

the truth about electric cars
Strangely enough that is exactly what I'm doing. I would like to see this current madness about electrifaction stop and leave it up to people's personal choice and the market.

the truth about electric cars
No, I mean NOX and also PMs look at the charts, CO2 figures are on the link, but have also fallen since 1993.
-
the truth about electric cars
Well, this link European emission standards - Wikipedia will show just how much advances have been made cleaning up ICE vehicles and as mentioned before, if there was not a ban coming up on producing ICE vehicles, these advancements would continue at a pace, but no manufacturer is going to spaff £billions on further research on a dead in the water system unless there is reversal of government policy. It is also worth noting that you say that it is CO2 that the cause of global warming or climate change that is expected to kill millions due to flooding and yet petrol vehicles produce twice the amount that diesels do, so continuing pushing diesels would dramatically cut climate change and save millions of lives, and retain the speed and sheer convenience of refuelling a car to a full tank and maximum range in minutes without having to invest £billions in bolstering the national grid and increasing generation ability. The graphs extracted from that link, shown below also illustrate just how much has been achieved since 1993 in just 31 years, the CO2 and PM and NOX levels are almost none existent on todays engines and no reason not to believe that the same kind of pace would continue if it were not for the looming ban. It makes me and a lot of other people wonder if there is another possible reason behind the policy.

the truth about electric cars
Hmm, just as the argument was concluded several years ago before that and steps taken to transition to diesel, see any similarities here? Surely the ENSO tyres would a bad move really, given how you go on about how EVs can out accelerate ICE cars and in some cases are even heavier, you want more grip from the tyres to control that extra grunt the electric motor delivers, ENSO certainly would be the Achilles heel to getting that extra grip?

the truth about electric cars
That reinforces what I was saying the other day about tailpipe emissions dropped and engine efficacy increases over the last 30 years and politicians are telling us the reverse is true and hence the need for LEZ etc everywhere. Does anybody feel we are being gaslit and lead down a specific pathway that is pitched as in our very best interests, but what if that was a big fat lie? I'm not saying that it is, BUT what if it is??? Perhaps we all need to think outside the box, and outside the box that the powers are keen to put us in??

the truth about electric cars
Diesel engines are generally kinder to the environment than petrol engines as they produce less CO2 and less GHG and seeing as these are measured per litre of fuel used/burnt and it is well known fact that you get far greater MPG with diesel so to cover the same distance with the same type of car, the petrol one will consume quite a bit extra fuel, thus the petrol is doing greater harm to the environment and they also produce, just like diesels, particulates PM2.5, so now I don't feel so bad driving around in my diesel car. Just maybe then hybrids and PHEV are producing just as much or more CO2 and PM2.5 as my so-called filthy diesel powered car, hmm, now there's food for thought and maybe as time goes on even more revelations might break surface, and we learn that electrification might not be the silver bullet after all. As I have said before, it often pays to keep an open mind and also to be sceptical of new technologies that are being adopted and heavily pushed before we really discover everything there is to know about them. Diesel Or Petrol Engines: Which Pollutes More? A Complex Question

That was not what you were claiming though is it, you said "ICE technology has stagnated and ICE vehicles only moving forward in term of their performance as the electric hybrid systems enhancement the ice powertrain."
