Not just a question for EV drivers, just any members on here. What temperature do you set your cars interior to be at?
And so it was also an honest answer, so what is with setting the temps low and slipping jackets or gillettes on or over normal working clothes, being frugal with energy use, cars having heat pumps, tyres being perhaps slightly over inflated to help with efficiency and thus range. Now here is a thing, I would have also expected better economy in the summer if the interior temp was turned up (I suspect that it would if I could stand the heat), but I suspect the fact that I appear to be getting better results in the summer is a combination of 3 things, 1) that I tend to do most longer journeys in the summer as that is when air shows and also other events tend to be held, and 2) the car is pretty well insulated and so once the AC has brought the temperature down a comfortable level, the automatic controls then regulate how much work the AC actually has to do, and its output is reduced once the set temp has been achieved. Lastly, 3) it appears to be more wind and rain and certainly snow in the winter, all of which call for more energy to overcome them. It is amazing how much difference a wet road makes to economy compared to a dry one.

My car is set at the factory default of 22°C but I do tweak it depending on what the outside ambient is the air coming from the dash vents nearly always feels too hot or cold. I'll have to test it with a digital thermometer to discover how accurate the climate control really is, I suspect it is way out as I can sometimes hear the various flaps moaning and groaning as they attempt to regulate the temperature, but then it is a high miler so they have done many years of normal usage already. I don't like driving with jackets etc on to compensate for having to set the temperature lower to maximise my range which does seem to be a widespread thing with most of you EV drivers as even with my heating cranked up on a cold damp day or turned down on a really hot day, making the AC work really hard, I know that I can still outperform all current EVs on range hands down with a range even in winter of around 600 to 700 miles and in the summer, upto 860 miles on a decent run without refuelling.

Technology that Ford could be introducing soon.
Just what I wanted, said nobody ever 🤣 It makes you wonder what's next. When I saw what Ford were planning, I had to make sure that it wasen't April 1st.

I just stumbled across this idea that Ford are looking to bring to cars soon, 3D holograms of security guards or dogs etc that could be used to protect your car against would be thieves in the future. The system will guard your car and when it detects the presence of someone in proximity to your car sent an alert to your phone and activate these moving 3D holograms to deter them. Thoughts? the truth about electric cars
Of course the car is fake., it's a replica built by a batman fan. Here is the text that goes with the video on YT. Quote. 1,949,919 views Nov 24, 2022 I built a custom replica of a 1966 Batmobile. When I go to car shows people ask if the buttons and switches all work. They do. I made this video to demonstrate most of the features of the car, including the simulated turbine start up sound. Finish body work and paint by Mr. Pat Crafton. Here is a link to another video of the Batmobile chasing the Joker:

Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.
I posted it because I thought it was interesting and thought others might find it interesting, especially with the backstory as written with the video, for instance, why would they fill loads of cans up with petrol allegedly stolen from a petrol station and the petrol dripping onto the exhaust. That alone is unlikely to ignite the petrol but it will create plenty of highly flammable vapour which would ignite explosively if there is another means of ignition handy. The information provided also clearly states that they had not even put the lids on the cans, so who knows exactly how the ignition happened but it did. It was still interesting in its own right and the observant would have noticed that the flames from the petrol were only going in a vertical direction, there were no sideways flames coming from the car, thus confirming it was not an EV battery on fire.

the truth about electric cars
Nope, it is not some cheeky change of definition, I never stated BEV which is exactly what your implying. No I'm currently not sure what the EU requirements are exactly, but it is my understanding that it is the UK that is pushing zero emissions and the EU is more focused on CO2 reductions

the truth about electric cars
Yes, but I was saying that the UK intended plan is to phase out and pure ICE cars in 2030 making all new car purchases therefore some form of electric. I understand that existing ICE will not be banned and that second-hand cars will still be available for sale and fully usable for the foreseeable future. Whether the events happen to either allow that date happen as planned or to slide further into the future or get shelved, nobody knows for sure, but it would take a very brave or naive person / company not to prepare for the planned date in case none any of the events you mention which could happen, don't actually happen. Yes I also accept that I don't personally have any personal experience of an electric car unlike you, wyx087 or Lol-Lol etc, but that does not prevent me from taking a keen interest in electric cars. I have always been interested in cars, I'm not what Clarkson would call a true petrol head as I like all forms of power for cars, be it petrol, diesel, electric, hydrogen, synthetic fuels or even jet fuel as once touted with the appearance of the gas turbine cars that many experimented with Category:Cars powered by gas turbines - Wikipedia

the truth about electric cars
That is what I was saying, by 2030 it is expected that UK will ban all sales of new pure ICE vehicles, so will have to be some form of electric, 🙄

the truth about electric cars
@Ootohere I was talking about the UK target and fines are set at £15k for each car sold in the UK that falls below the UK government set figure of 22% of all new cars being sold have to be electric. The EU target for their new cars to be electric is 2035, the current UK government have nailed their colours to the mast for that date to be reduced to 2030 here in the UK, have they not? the truth about electric cars
Yes, I know that they sell to themselves at times, but did they ever have penalties being imposed if their sales quotas have not been reached. Is this year not the first time (I can't recall such an event happening before), that they face a massive UK fine for each car that is an electric one until the 22% quota of all their sales is achieved. I also wonder just how many or indeed if any of the MG and Tesla cars have been effectively sold back to themselves (preregistering), after all they are not likely to tell us if they have or have not done that are they? Getting the truth is hard.

the truth about electric cars
The thing is that we all know just how secretive the CCP government is and the views put forward by this youtuber also fall into line by a good deal of other youtubers, we also know just how rubbish many of their standards and some products are, so I would not be too hasty to dismiss what the youtuber is claiming, How do you know that the situation on the ground is vastly different to what's been reported by those channels? Have you been there, have you lived there and if you lived there, when and for how long? I have as it happens quite a few Chinese friends who don't disagree with these peoples views, and these youtubers have lived in China for a number of years so I think that they can speak with more authority on that subject than most of us can.

the truth about electric cars
That is not what I said, I explained the parameters we are being told by government that electric is the way to go, they also alongside many other sources, that going electric should also be cheaper motoring per mile for fuel, but that simply is not true unless you can charge at home, and most journeys are with in the range that a home charge will replace the energy used and that if a longer journey is required, that in order to maintain that promise of cheaper motoring per mile, you are also prepared to use the slower chargers and thus spend time waiting to get enough charge to complete your journey. Why do you always twist things around, there is no need to explain that it might be possible to use a faster charger and thus save time, but you are also paying more for the energy, assuming that your particular car is also capable of using the faster charger, for you know the person might have purchased a car which has a maximum charge rate of 7kW.
-
the truth about electric cars
Is there any carmaker who is going to achieve their 22% target this year without having to resort to preregistering or savage price cuts to minimise their exposure to the 15K fine per car under sold?
-
the truth about electric cars
That is not the answer, though, is it? We are being told that electric is the way to go, not only for the sake of the environment, but also we are being told that it is cheaper per mile, but that is only true if you are able to, and do charge at home especially on the right tariff with a smart meter, and or, are prepared to spend many hours at one of the far slower and so cheaper chargers. Most people do not have that ability, nor the time to waste sitting around getting enough charge to complete their journey.

the truth about electric cars
That video is not about the floods in China, but the very poor built quality and corner cutting in their cars and their batteries as well as how the government suppress these news events from being leaked, even to their own citizens, well worth a watch, especially anyone thinking of buying one of their EV vehicles.

the truth about electric cars
That revenue source is only going to be there, if the British public continue to but their cars, with the new tariffs in place they might so much closer to the prices of say Tesla, that one of two things might, either they might elect to buy Tesla or they might elect not to buy a new car after all.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lol did you see my post re Chinese EVs here Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, an EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder. - Page 16 - Electric Vehicles - BRISKODA It is claimed and the point can be seen in the video, that on some cars the airbags have also failed to go off even though the car is badly damaged.
-
the truth about electric cars
While that is another angle, are we not going to be applying similar taxation on Chinese cars then? Equally their thinking could be that its better to at this moment in time, to swallow 10K rather than 15K on each car a d also to try and clear some of their massive backlog of unsold cars?

Wow, I never realised that link would also work, that is even quicker, thanks, I've learned something useful today 👍 I just that thought it was an advert saying that it came from YouTube.

You are making more out of this than there is, because you want there to be more, just do a little more checking, like, read the full notes that appear on YouTube with each video and then you will see exactly where those words/references came from. That is one of the first things that I do when anybody posts a YT video, I click in the top right corner of the video thumbnail where it says "Copy link" and I watch it in YT where I can see any supporting articles and when the video was uploaded, to back up the presenter's claims in order decide if there is any factual substance to their video or is hearsay etc., then I'm being better informed.

the truth about electric cars
I just heard a radio ad by MG cars saying that for a limited time you can get £10,000 off the price on a MG Z4, looks like they are getting desperate to avoid the £15,000 fine for every one that they fail to sell by the end of the year. I'm surprised that their website as yet is not making any mention of the discount.

the truth about electric cars
@Stonekeeperthe article linked did state it was based on superfast chargers, but my calculation for my car was using £1.37 a litre for diesel, which is the current price. That was I provided all links he used in the video, to prevent the wrong assumptions being made. Using slow chargers will add considerable time onto the journey and often time is limited and was time has gone by, you cannot get it back, so some people just want to refuel as quick as possible and get on with life again. Looking forward to seeing photos of the car when it arrives.
