  1. @leolito I agree with the wood finish, trouble is I haven't seen a mk3 with that option, maybe there is an aftermarket wood finish somewhere for them? I had that option as standard on my mk2 but my family always thought it was old-fashioned, so I guess you can call me old-fashioned then because I still love the look and finish of real wood. I used to have a Vanden Plas 3Litre and that the dashboard made from beautiful walnut, door cappings and picnic tables, just like a Rolls.
  2. Very true 😆😆 Edited the original post now, thanks.
  3. When think how much money has been wasted putting profits into the profit sector, and yet they also squeeze their staff on pay awards, so very little of that money goes back into circulation. And many of the services that have been cut and potholes that could all be a thing of the past if only they had borrowed the money.
  4. @Ootohere well, that was the whole point of my posting that video, and also of I think fair to say, much the same with @Winston_Woof posting as well. This is why I look for other alternative motives when ever the governments of the world propose things that are going to directly affect just about everybody. It pays to follow the money trail if you can and that often reveals some dubious connections and goings-on. I'm not conspiracy theorist who wears a tin foil hat, and there are plenty who are, like those that think that 5G network is a weapon of mind control, or LEDs are also another weapon etc. I just believe that is not wise to just swallow what the narrative is hook line and sinker.
  5. @Winston_Woof thanks for posting, I had missed your post, but at least it's better to have it twice than not at all. I hate to think how many billions of public has been wasted paying out to these companies for all these years. The same goes for the all PFI hospitals and schools that have built over the years, it would have been far cheaper to have burrowed the extra money to build them rather then this continual bleeding of money from the public sector to the private sector. Interestingly it of course in 1993 when this whole process started, it was a conservative government and they have continued this diverting public money into the private sector ever since, no wonder public services are decimated and the current party having to reverse their manifesto pledges, shocking state of affairs. There are even more roads that could added to that list now, there is a section of the A130 from Chelmsford to Wickford that has had an extra lane added in a similar scheme, so its a safe bet that there will be others, which be come to be known in the fullness of time.
  6. Well if you watched the video, 5 days ago when it first came out, then you will of course also be aware of the total cost to the taxpayer over the length of the contract is many tens of times more than it would have cost the taxpayer if the government had "borrowed" the money in the first place. Add in the extra costs on all the hedge funds funded roads and there is a massive great sinkhole that the public money is going into and explains why our roads are crumbling to bits.
  7. Well it looks like I accidentally posted in the wrong section, oops, sorry. The video that Geoff Buys Cars posted is completely on a different topic to this one and there is absolutely no connection between the two as you should know, if you watched the video, did you? I already know that you no longer watch Geoff's video, which is a real shame, as you will discover when the system rolls out, and also just what the system is capable of.
  8. Taking a Citroen Ami on the motorway is IMO just as crazy as it gets, small size and limited speed is a recipe for disaster.
  9. Want a small quirky city car, that charges in 4 hours, seats 2, this could be a contender.
  10. Correct, that's why I don't trust a word they say, look at what is happening now. Then think about the claims of air pollution, price of electric etc, can you trust them to tell the truth?
  11. Just watched this video and if true (no reason to doubt otherwise) then this just highlights the problems of poor decisions our politicians make and how much they manage to squirrel away from the public purse in the long term, preventing other more important uses of the public money. I'm not saying that any politician benefits directly from these decisions, but I suspect that many have had their ears bent back by some of the well known think tanks, which are nothing more than lobby groups for already wealthy clients looking to become even wealthier, in my opinion. Any thoughts on this?
  12. Quite agree, many people can get into some serious trouble just with the standard power output of an engine, without adding more grunt. I always used to go for petrol engines upto the point where I inherited a diesel car when joining a new company, and I was absolutely gob smacked by the extra grunt from what was a smaller engine to my old car, and as for the much improved mpg, well at the time it was a "no-brainer" to stick with diesel going forwards.
  13. If it has been treated well and had regular servicing then it should be fine for smoke test, mine has 151,000 now and it passed the test like it was a new engine, my garage is very happy with it, body work needs some attention now but mechanically it seems fine. As to timing belt, I think it is now something like 100,000 miles or 5 years, best to check with a dealer.
  14. Jaguar are recalling a load of 2019 I Pace models for yet another software update as a temporary measure to try and stop their cars from self combusting, even though they have already supposed to have the problem fixed by a software update. In the meantime they are telling owners to park them out in the open, away from structures, and also charge them like that as there is a risk of them catching fire on their own even when not on charge. Some that have had a previous software update to stop that, have still caught fire. Jaguar I-Pace Owners Told To Park Outside After 3 Fires Involving Previously Recalled EVs | Carscoops
  15. Smoke and mirrors....software update is a fix.......you said that a seal could be faulty and allow water inside the battery....so BMW are trying to control the narrative and suppress the truth, hence smoke and mirrors.
  16. Happy for you, hope that the Audi proves to be a good mile muncher, it should be good for many more miles still.
  17. Best if you search for it yourself, then you can't deny it.
  18. Correct and things are improving all the time, there is zero argument from me on that front. But as you like to say, pointing out the bleeding obvious. Time and history will tell if we are embarking on the right course or not with the right solution. The history books are full of blunders that the world has made by adopting emerging technologies too early before we fully learned about their advantages and pitfalls, and it seems that most people have already forgotten about them. 🤔
  19. Aaannndddd so am I, and my family, we use gas for everything 😅 and my poor mum with her use of 2 log burners, gas heating and cooking only survived to the young age of 92, and her 2 sisters who had similar devices, 1 passed at 100 and the other is still with us and almost 100. And when they were children only had pond water for washing, cooking and drinking. Compared to them, we have never had it so good. 😆 It shows the degree of scare mongering and hype going on today. I'm learning some history about my city and there was in 1888 a massive flood that wiped out many buildings. Climate change would be the excuse given today for it.
  20. You can still have it delivered as well.
  21. It is much the same down here in England as well. That said there are still suppliers of both coal and wood for home fires, do a Google search and they pop up all over the place. Many garages actively sell coal in sealed plastic bags and also logs. We also have areas where there is no mains gas so they have to use bottled or tank gas or even oil, so we are no different to Scotland. We even have forum members here who still use wood burners, my Mum if she was still alive today would I'm sure still use an old-fashioned wood burner, she had 2 in her house, also had gas central heating installed and also, just for good measure had 2 gas balanced flue fires installed on external walls and a plethora of electric heaters, just in case. The plain truth is, that everyone who cooks by gas is exposing everyone in the house to far higher levels of pollution than they would be outside. So is everyone from the very smallest baby right the way through to the elderly and infirm who be bedridden. The only to avoid that is cook and heat by electric, but of course none of that fits scripted narrative, does it?
  22. Not to mention however that you are exposed to more pollution within your own home, especially if you have a coal, wood burner, or gas being used for heating/cooking etc, whereas when you're outside, the breeze or in some cases strong winds actually disperse the fumes from traffic exhaust so you are actually less exposed and safer outside then you are inside your house, especially in the colder months of the year as people tend to keep doors and windows tightly shut to keep the heat in.
