Too much choice is the problem, what tyres you running at the moment? As you seem to do quite a bit of track time also and have similar power we seem to have the same requirments?

Still got the T1rs at the moment but I rate these tyres so low these are coming off with 6mm tread still left to be replaced with Goodyear eagle F1 Asymetrics. On my standard 17 inch rims I rate the Vredestein sportrack 3's, these are an amazing tyre for the money but are not available in 225 40 18. Run T1's Toyos on my pug 205 GTI race car and these were superb on the lighweight beast. Spotrack 2's currently on the Westfield

Im not slating these tyres on their dry wheather performance in fact they are very impressive in the dry. Also if your information on the left is correct then im running 140bhp more than you so you can't really compare. I've done a lot of circuit racing, competing in sprints hillclimbs ect and the annual nurburgring trip. last year my holiday was ruined as the track was damp/greasey and my car wanted to bounce off every barrier when my mates flying round on pilot sports. Also bear in mind tyre width - 225 will not work as well in the wet so any deficency in the t1'r will be exagerated in this size.

The T1s toyo did was a much better tyre, they seem to have made the compound harder on the T1r which explains the poor damp road holding.

Also how many people do really push their cars, i like to drive briskly but its only when on track you really now how good a tyre is.

And? If you want to start playing "Power Top Trumps", I know several people who're running T1-Rs on cars making better than 500bhp, and 305 thro 335 widths. The only one of them who's complaining is complaining that it's too easy to use the power to light up the rears!

He's after tyres for an Octavia here, not a rear wheel drive supercar here. Different tyres suit different cars. The T1's did have softer side walls which is why they were fantastic on the superlightweight Pug 205.

Im not being funny with you here but this guy is after peoples personal experience on a Octavia that goes on track.

these are the Goodyears that have been getting the best reviews as a late. Dont confuse them with the Gsd3 - These are new.

like I said before at under 100 quid delivered from Camskill i'll be inversting in some of these. But as with any tyre you can make an informed choice but until they are on you'll never know.

I have not tried the new Eagles. Might be worth giving them a bash.

T1R's work best with light weight cars, they aren't so much at home on heavier fwd's.

from experience the T1r does struggle with heavier cars as i know a cayenne that went through 6 sets in no time thanks to them getting pinched and then delaminating/been ruined.

however thats a cayenne!

advans and parada's are directional too... ?

Are they? Ooops. Its a pain cause i cant rotate my wheels front to rear (cause of the custom machining on the rears to get the correct offset. So i can only rotate them left to right so non directionals would be better.

That said, if its a better tyre then i will just have to take the tyres off to do it

As a point of pure geometry a tyre could be both (see Bridgestone F1 full wets where LHF and RHF treads are V shaped but apex off-centre and mirror image), but as a term in road tyre design it's one or the other.

Right, now im confused, lol

In a perfect world (which sadly we dont live in, lol) I would like i tyre i could swap, from the nearside to the offside, and visa versa (as my wheels cant be rotated front to back due to custom offsets). I would like loads of grip and a set that will last about 10k on the front (mixed driving, track and road). All for £500 - £600.

But, i know its not a perfect world so will have to make do somewhere. I can rule out track specific tyres, like the R888 etc... as they cost to much and wear to quick. So something like the Prada or New Eagle etc....

Thier is too much choice is the problem, lol

Ok, I can't help you choose a make of tyre Garry, but you want a non-specific (not sure you'll get any to suit size and speed rating though) or an asymmetric design, so you can unbolt both fronts and just bolt them straight on the other side.

I really did like the Semperit tyres it currently has but thought why not give these new eagles a go that every one is raving about. Just hope they live up to the hype, lol. Dont really want to be wasting £408.00 (Camskil - 225/40R18 x 4).

when will you be getting onto a track to give them some real abuse? only ask as i heard the previous one where supposed to be a bit sift for track work as they over heat?

My next one is at Lydden in late August so will check em out then.
