Fabia Km counter validity check

Featured Replies

Hello!

I would like to ask your help. Half year ago I have bought a 3 years old Fabia 1.2 12V HTP Classic with 59.000km from an official Skoda dealer. I had some problems with it. My supicion, that the previous owner set back the km counter.

Could you please help me, how can I check the validity of the km counter? Is the km value stored in other parts of the car also? (e.g. ignition key, micro controller)

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Balil

Some models store the true value in the ECU. You'll need someone with VAGCOM to scan it for you.

Yes, on most of the diesel models atleast, you can interrogate the ECU to find the actual mileage. There may be a small discrepancy, but its a good way of checking its not been clocked.

You need VCDS/VAGCOM though.
