Liking this probably makes me very, very old.

:)I looked at that yesterday. I would imagine it would be pretty good. Seems like a lot of car for the money. Wouldnt like to pay the fuel bill though!

Strange, me and Ken were talking about these the other day! There was one in my works car park for ages - it was there every day AFAIK, so it can't have been that unreliable!

Ah. but did it leave and come back? :D

This is the first time I've seen a manual up for sale. Shame it's not an estate though.

I like the concept, but not having a use for the top end, don't like the fuel consumption!

Whatcha reckon, 25mpg combined?

Whatcha reckon, 25mpg combined?

On a steady run i reckon.. yeh.

Never knew they existed... suprised its a manual... would expect something like that to have a DSG in or something.

Very nice though... would come in handy for next week driving in Germany!! lol

EDIT:

More info on the car here:

Volkswagen Passat W8 (2002 - 2005) : LETS W8 A WHILE - Yahoo! Cars

275BHP and says you have to be "disciplined" to achieve 20mpg :o

Parkers reckon 21 mpg...

i've always liked them :)

slap a couple turbo's on that bad boy :D

To fill the tank will cost about £120

Nice spec car but you need a big wallet to run it :thumbdwn:

I love the thought of 4 litres under the bonnet, just the W8 logo sitting there all innocent.

Probably would have had but they dont make a DSG for a engine mounted that way around (hence no Audi's having them bar A3/TT etc).

Only ever seen a few W8's in at work, nothing other than servicing.

I'd have one. Only ever seen one in the flesh, in blue.

people have probably seen them and not know as they are so understated :D

i've seen two and both were blue

Drove one with tiptronic, very nice but doing about 18mpg when I drove it = and a beige interior!

I guy tried to part ex one to me when his car was about 2 years old. We told him it was worth about 40% what he paid for it………….strangely enough he wasn’t very impressed. He said Jeremy Clarkson had personally shaken his hand in congratulations for buying it and he wanted a lot more money for his part ex. We politely told him he should see if Jezza would like to take it off his hands.

21mpg! :D

Marvellous.

So the R36 is faster and less thirsty.

I'd love it, but the fuel economy? No thanks. Also, it was ££££ new and from what LadyE was saying, the fact it's a niche car doesn't help at resale.

I seriously thought of swapping my Octavia 4x4 for the one I tried but they wouldn't give anything like enough px. I've managed to get the octy down to 17mpg once so wasn't too worried about fuel! They are probably a better buy now as prices have dropped a bit (20k at the time I tried one!)

Only 275 bhp though :o

To be fair, though, that is quite a lot. Not an enormous lot, but quite a lot.
