Washer jet - How did that happen?

Featured Replies

Thought I'd run out of windscreen washer water the other day, as only a dribble hit the screen on the drivers side (was paying attention to the passenger side).

Filled up the reservior and it made no difference, but I noticed the passenger side worked fine. I assumed the jet must be blocked or the pipe kinked. I checked the pipe and that was ok, but when I looked at the jet, i noticed the drivers side looked different to the passengers. It turned out that the piece of plastic that the water comes out of is separate to the main body of the jet, and had moved forward and was poking out of the front of the jet. I pushed it back in (it was tight, but not overly so) and it all seemed ok.

So, how did that happen and does it mean that the jet is broken and will do the same again?

Any body else had the same problem? Anyone know the cost of a jet - I'm worried I won't be able to afford a new one ;)

I wonder if mine does the same when the reservoir's about half full? If so, it's been like that for over 2 years now.
