Since I've got my Fabia vRS back from repair, I've noticed.....

Featured Replies

Been out for a good drive last night, and then again to work this morning.

Since its been repaired, the car is noticably nippier and smoother than it was even before it got hit in that little accident. So I was thinking placebo effect, but.... the economy has also got noticably better. For example, if I was to cruise at 80mph before, the MPG (the one that updates every few seconds), it would read about 40 mpg. Now, I did this last night, 80 mph cruise, but this time air conditioning was ON, and it was reading 48 mpg. My averages are up too, normally I could expect low 40's the way I was driving last night. However, I seem to be getting 50 mpg now.

What I want to know is why? (Not that I am complaining) Could the turbo intercooler been faulty before hand? I was really surprised how much quicker it felt once I got out onto the open road, really blasting past people on dual carriageways in 6th gear!

Could have been faulty, are you driving more cautiously now after the accident? As it might have slowed you down a bit?

did you have a gutless hire car? Maybe you have got used to that and now it seems quicker. Just an thought ;)

Did the Furbie miss you and is it making up for time sat in a cold lonely garage?

Was the ECU reset? You might find that your previous style of driving has yet to be relearnt ;) Keep us posted on how it changes :D

Chris

I reckon it was lonely personally. :)

...or they may have secretly swapped plates on a new car (and perhaps interior...)

LOL @ these comments!

Firstly, I didnt have a hire car, so the last car I drove was the Furby. My driving style yesterday was perhaps somewhat different - I drove smoother, but unlike normally, I made no real effort to keep the revs down - I was generally driving at least 2k rpm, whereas, using 3rd / 4th gear in 30 zones instead of 5th and stuff like that. I am basing the comparison on times where I have driven the car in a similar fashion - I was certainly not hanging about either, doing about 60-70 on NSL and 80-90 on motorways.

did they wash it for you? maybe there is now less drag? :D or maybe the new paint is lighter

Or they chipped it for you/different hamster under the bonnet?

Or painted it dynamic blue? Definitely a fast colour. ;)

I think I might have noticed a change like that :D

They could have put a better intercooler in, though...
