My Intro.

Featured Replies

I live in the most easterly island of the Caribbean, Barbados and I have owned a Skoda Felicia GLX hatchback since April 1996.

Over the years I have had my share of maintenance to do but I can honestly say I am still being satisfied by this car.

However, I am now faced with another issue.

Sometimes my headlights do not turn off even though I have depressed the main switch on the dash board. what I have noticed is that if the car is locked at a time when I am not getting the problem (it comes and goes) and then I unlock the car, as soon as the central locking unlocks the doors the problem reoccurs. Is anyone familiar with this problem? if so how can I solve it? One guy told me it is either the trafficator switch, which I found hard to believe, or some switch/unit that is positioned right behind the ignition switch.

Please help because everytime I park I have to disconnect the battery and I am afraid that I might be out at night and then the lights do not come on.

Hiya.

I don't know if this is your problem or not, but it's quite common for European cars to be set up such that, if you turn the ignition off with the trafficators on, the sidelights on the side the trafficators are on on are switched on. This is to handle laws in various countries that require you to show marker lights if your car is parked facing against a traffic flow at night.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the quick response but I dont think that is the problem. It has to do with the head lights not going off when switched off and sometimes coming on when not switched on.
