Cheers

You can get Alloy Wheel repair kits from Halfords and other motor factors - though it is unlikely you will get as good a repair as the professionals.

If you do a thorough job the repair will only be visible up close, and its a lot cheaper than a refurb.

I've done a few over the years and I'm a bit fussy! The best match for colour I've come across is VW Diamond Silver aerosol from Halfords, followed by their clear lacquer.

Clean wheel very thoroughly [off the car] and lay it horizontally on an old stool or bench.

Filler if necessary in the damage area, sand very smooth with finest wet and dry, mask tyre near the damage area, and use very small, very light coats, letting dry for half an hour or so between coats. Finish off with several light coats of clear lacquer, which also blends the colours in, let dry overnight, then replace.

Works for me - you can't see the repair when it is back on the car.

Have you checked you don't have an alloy spare wheel.

Was pleasantly surprised after getting a puncture that I had spare alloy in the boot.

Mine was too - even the salesman was surprised. but even so I like to have them all looking good.

You never know when the spare will become your next road wheel!

i think all elegancy models come with alloy spares

I got mine June 2005, can't remember what the official spec was back then, but the dealer was expecting a steel spare.

I think it depends on which wheels are fitted:

My 06 Elegance has standard 16" Vega wheels and an alloy spare.

A mate has an 05 Elegance with the 17" Pegasus and a steel spare.

Correct 16" comes with a spare alloy, 17" with a steel wheel.

Our Elrgance came with alloy spare and as i have just marked one of ours i am loath to put the spare on as it looks so shiney.
