New car.....almost

Featured Replies

Finally taken the plunge and replaced the Mk1 vrs....With another Vrs, went for the diesel this time. Drove 1 1/2 hrs to Cambridge with intention of taking away same day.

Withdrew all as cash as just once, wanted to do the whole 'how much for cash' only to be told the next day that can't pay with more than 10k legally and phoned stealers who said only take 4k. Sheepishly back to the bank with 750 £20 notes:O.

Anyway,

Race blue hatchback, 18's, maxidot (still not sure what that really does) jumbo box, dual climate parking sensors etc everything bar xenons i think, never had or seen them so won't miss them.

Can't say much more yet as haven't got the car yet. Paid straight off p/xing the mk1 (got a reasonable price) completed everything 1227hrs saturday. Then was told "can't have car as no tax and GPO is shut:mad:, Will deliver it monday". V excited today lots of meetings planned for Tues as will have new car to do it in. Today, "sorry no V5 from Skoda will have to tax and get to you tomorrow". Best be here tomorrow, it's like Xmas day but Santa is stuck at customs with red tape.

Sorry this will be one of many posts asking questions about what bits do. Never remember to ask everything when with salesman. What exactly does maxidot do? Should the car have someform of Bluetooth or is that extra again, what other functions should i be looking to make use of in the car as a whole?

Grate to hear, I should be getting mine on thursday with any luck. :D. The maxidot will let you change a couple of settings that are otherwise only accessibale via the us of VAG COM or simular (e.g alarm chirp, a few others can't remeber off the top of my head). I think it will allow you to see radio information in the dashpod and the normal trip computer stuff, oh and if you have sat nav in the car then it will display the navigation. Bluetooth is not an option from the dealer, that is if you want the oem one. If you do then look out for Vrstu, he can offer an oem for a small fee of course:thumbup:. Hope you enjoy. I know Im looking forward to it.

Bluetooth was never an option but you can get the kit from Seat and fit that and will work with the Maxidot no problem.

Make sure that you get some photos up though when it arrives in your possession

a link to vrstu website for the bluetooth thingy.

Still no frikkin car. V5 apparently didn't turn up in the post from Skoda Uk at the dealers this morning, no V5- no tax - no car. Shouldn't that be something that comes physically with the car when delivered? Postponed the meetings due today until tomorrow, now may have to postponed again. These are not the people you muck around with. Any other ways this could be sorted by the dealer and delivered today?

It suggests to me that it's an ex SUK fleet car so they will have probably bought it in from a stock list. V5 is probably held by a fleet department.

Did they put a pickup date on the contract that you have singed with them?

I'm taking it that you have no other car to get to the meetings, if that is the case and there is a date on the contract then I would think that you would have a failry strong case for them supplying an alternative car untill you have yours, I know not an ideal situation but a possible soultion.

Knowlegable you are Stu of the Vrs. Yes ex 'senior mangers car' apparently, there seem to be a hell of a lot of SUK managers who drive the car for what must only be 6 months if that. Surely the V5 should be with the car if it is on the forecourt to avoid problems like this. Any suggetions for increased pace, my 7 day complimentary insurance is going to have been wasted by the time I get the car.

Ishj, was supposed to have the car Sat, but PO was closed was then told delivery would be Mon. Mon no V5 with the car will have to ask for it will deliver tues. Tues still no V5. I have a car, I am p/xing old one, based on that i want to use it as little as poss, save some numpty ploughing into the side of it or something and they not take it. Soooo frustrating.

Hope you get the car sorted soon. About a year ago I made the same move (traded my mk 1 for a diesel Mk2) and I have not looked back. Once you get it I am sure you will have lots of fun in it.

How exactly were they going to tax it on the saturday - even if the PO was open?

It would be unfortunate if someone bumped into your trade-in car, but I didn't worry about it when trading mine. Garage wasn't fussed that I was going to put a 1k plus miles on it in a week either.

Is this Vindis Skoda in Cambridge?

Vindis it is.

Finally had the car delivered yesterday. Nice car, glad i got it, even impressed the other half. However, flippin aircon doesn't work !! Makes a loud hissing noise behind the dash and is about as cold as my oven:mad:. Not driving to Cambridge again, phoned Skoda Newbury who said that they think it sounds like low gas (on a 1 yr old car!), they have booked it in next week to get it sorted. If not covered by warranty they will be speaking to Vindis as shouldn't have come out with it like that .
