What Tyres to buy??

Featured Replies

Hiya,

Ive just brought a Fabia VRS, I need some new tyres for it as the ones on there are wearing low. They are Federal tyres which look pretty cheap.

Can anyone tell me what tyres the VRS should come with as standard and also any tyres that you would recommend me buying?

Thank You

Toyo T1- R's are a firm fave on here. Thats what I have.

Try Camskill online for good deals on them.

:+1:

If you're not sure on size, double check the spare.

Best tire's ive ever owned are Uniroyal rainsports, amazing in the wet and just as good as the Goodyear Eagle f1's in the dry. Also last for ages.

Toyo T1R are good but they wear too quickly.

I'm going to need new ones soon and they've only done about 8k on the fronts.

Will be going for Kuhmo KU31 next time.

toyo t1r's here, tho i have been thru 2 sets in the last 4 months with trackdays and the like, but they are very good:thumbup:

I got 18k and two track days out of my T1r's. Brilliant all round tyre.

Oh btw OP

Everytime the search isn't used to turn up the hundreds of threads related to tyre choice, a kitten is killed.

Please. Think of the kittens.....

If you like to use your right foot from time to time 8K is about normal for toyos.

Dark grey ones! ;)

I just got some Eagle F1s.... but they aren't on yet.

They come first in most of the tyre contests....

Tr-1's for me everytime since having them on the Furby at the moment.

thanks for all the replys....its looking like the Toyo's are the ones to buy.

Just been qouted £66 each supplied and fitted.

Just hope they last longer then 8k..

They will unless you drive it like a loon :D

I needed tyres in a hurry for the 'Ring trip and managed to track down some Toyo Proxes T1S's (older version of the T1R tread pattern) at a decent price.

They are truly amazing tyres well suited to the Fabia chassis dynamics with a c**p driver. :o

Thank God - I thought I was on my own here!

Toyo's and brakes saved a 180 euro gravel-trap bill on the F1 track; "co-pilot" screaming in my left ear "Keep her lit, keep her effing lit", Toyo's and Fabia agility saved an even bigger Armco & rescue bill on the North Loop; nothing saved the undies though. :(

Note to self: pack adult-sized Pampers for next trip.

I've said it before; I run out of bottle before T1-Rs run out of grip on an Octy!

I've only went past the grip level due to a brief moment of stupidity, apart from that, they're faultless and i'd never need anything better.

They are a road tyre and they don't like getting too hot. It's just not possible to get a perfect all round tyre, there are always going to be concessions.

The R888's don't like standing water much and will aquaplane more easily than normal road tyres. They are however fine on wet roads with no standing water.

- in cold weather you won't ever get them warm enough to generate the grip they are capable of in the warm/dry in winter when the roads are slick with salt then be very careful - these type of tyres just hate that kind of surface and traction is very limited. Also they will wear pretty quickly depending on what car they are fitted to but on a heavy car like the VRS i reckon you will be lucky to get a few K out of them.

Ah, I don't do track driving, and there's usually something hard-looking where I'd run off too if I ran off on the road.

Luckily for me there's always something soft to run onto...

But there's the small problem of the 20ft drop before the sand that worries me :D

SWMBO has been running Kumho KU31's for a little while. They are great nice and quiet and nice and grippy. Don't know how long they're going to last but hopefully they will last longer than the Conti's that they replaced at 14,000miles.

heres one for you lot, whats the widest tyres you can fit to the 16" vrs alloys? 215? 225?
