Clutch slip / warranty

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just recently purchased our second Skoda vRS, but this time a Fabia. We were so pleased with the Octavia we went back to our local dealership, Dennis Horton - Lincoln.

First day driving to work and the intercooler pipe blew off the turbo, which was scary as I was overtaking at the time! Got that fixed under warranty but now noticed the clutch is slipping in 4th gear, between 2k and 2.5k rpm. I dont think its chipped so I dont think its a power issue. Its an '04 plate and done 63k miles.

I've owned it for less than a week, so still has PLENTY of "approved car warranty" left but would this cover the clutch?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alex

dennis horton seem to be a good dealership. they support this site so given that you have had the car a week should possibly fix it for you.

I've just had a brows over the extended Skoda warranty

- Renewal of any clutch components due to incorrect adjustment, misuse and wear or tear are not covered......

Basically the extended warranty is pi55 and isnt even worth the paper its printed on....!!

Unfortunatley i dont think they'll cover it, due to it being a "non serviceable part"

You might be lucky tho as you've just bought the car, but i wouldn't hold my breath........

Don't you get a 30 day/ 1000 mile exchange with it, don't know what the terms of that are, might be worth reminding them.

Depends how good a deal you got on it, perhaps they've got something to play with?

Hey,

Thanks for the replies. I don't suppose you know how much it might cost to replace? I have read some threads about uprating the clutch. Is this wise if the car is kept standard?

Do skoda dealerships fit non standard clutches?

Forgot about the 30 day exchange! Good idea my friend.

Not sure if they would fit them, unless they supplied it??

Uprating the clutch on a standard car shouldn't affect drivabilty etc

If you plan on keeping it standard i'd uprate anyway dude so it will last a lifetime and you wont have to worry about it..

You should go for the Sachs clutch kit, you probaly will get away with just the clutch so shouldn't cost much, Somewhere like Jabbasport or Awesome Performance will sort you out and fit it for you...

But by all means see if the dealer will pay for it first

Cheers dude! I'll get on to Hortons tomorrow and see what they say. If it doesnt come to anything I'll try jabba, as their nearer.

Thinking about the 30 day exchange thing, it took more than 30days from when I paid deposit to get the car! DVLA had to send new log book because it was on private plates.

I would hope the 30days starts from when you collect the car!

UPDATE:

Today found out that my air con isnt working either! Its hissing from inside the dash, and never gets cold. Really bad start to owning my Furby :thumbdwn:

Spoke to Dennis Horton. They said they would repair both under warranty, so its going in Saturday for a road test etc.

Hopefully once its sorted I can start to enjoy the new car.

Great news! They seem to be a good dealership :) and have nice people working there! (Hello Steve!).

Excellent news (about them fixing it anyway)

Nice to see a dealer with great aftersales.

Spot on. Exellent result for you and Dennis Horton seem to be a great dealer.
