Following the poor service I received a few weeks ago & subsequent discussion with the 'troubleshooter' at the dealer...I chased them up again last Friday, as it had been around 10 days & no further word. The guy that was dealing with it was off for a few days.

Then I got a call today to arrange to book my car in for a 'few days' so they could have a good look at the problems which may include the need to remove the whole dash (yikes !)

The problems ( & their suggested solutions where they have one ) includes -

*very bad misting up of the windows ,if the climate is not left on all the time...sounds like some box is going to be be replaced?

*suspension squeaky on drivers side - new shocker and/or bush and/or arm ???

*loose door trim inside on top of drivers door (again!)...?

*indicators not always cancelling (when they should)...?

*windscreen going white along the bottom...getting further up & along by the week...they "will look at it"....I've seen all the other mentions of this on here... so I know to push that one

*Most worringly I also have what I can only describe as a rumble/vibration - particularly if moving off on a upward slope as the clutch bites & accelerator is pressed...sometimes followed by a screech??? Sometimes blipping the accelerator is enough to hear it (the rumble/vib that is)...I don't know if it is the engine/ exhaust or something else that is causing this...but they tried to suggest it was "maybe" normal as the VAG cars have a 'balancer' component buried somewhere at the bottom of the engine bay & it "could" be that??? Any idea's...I am concerned it sounds quite serious.

All credit to them for taking the car in, as they will have to give me a courtesy car. I only hope we get it fixed this time around. The Vrs has been off the road for longer & more often in 6 months, than my Avensis was in 4 years !!!

Best get all the problems in writing to ensure they don't get forgotten by the dealer

are you still in a position where you can reject this car under the sales of goods act, if you took finance out better still it should be easier to reject it.

Unfortunately I bought it second hand, so it's actually 15 months old now. ..not sure I could reject it now?

Just went to the dealer to book it in...got someone different again (not their fault)...no details of work required on the system, but reassuringly told, "oh it'll be on the paperwork somewhere". However I have since spoken to the 'troubleshooter' & he assured my the parts are ordered & all the outstanding work will be done. He also stated that he doesn't think they will replace the windscreen as it is only warantied for 6 months? Says I might have to claim on my insurance & they might pay the excess, I said...I don't think so, it's faulty!

Any idea's on the rumble/vib/screech...they claim it is probably normal?

I am starting to get real nervous about letting them loose on my car next week.

They might have to take the dash out apparently...should I let them (& have all the potential problems that could come with that), or put up with what is a fault that might (along with the others) ultimately hasten me changing cars again.

Why am I even considering this action? Several reasons - the car itself is great fun, but niggly little faults that the dealer have failed to fix, leaves me craving something else.

Even today on the way back from the tip, the stereo 'appeared' to pack in. The display was still on, but even with the volume at max & changing from radio to cd etc...there was absolutely no sound. When I got home, I thought I'd try turning the ignition off & back on...hey presto we have volume again.

Anyone else had this happen?

Even today on the way back from the tip, the stereo 'appeared' to pack in. The display was still on, but even with the volume at max & changing from radio to cd etc...there was absolutely no sound. When I got home, I thought I'd try turning the ignition off & back on...hey presto we have volume again.

I've had this happen on my Transporter, I think there is some kind of "mute" function, but I have never bothered to read up in the manual to see how it works (or if I did, I've already forgotten the details ).

As far as the other problems go, I think the suggestion to write down all the problems and give the list to the dealer is a good idea.

If they try to say they can't detect a problem get them to take it for a drive with you in the car so you can point it out to them when it is happening.

If they try the old "Oh, they are all like that" line, make them give you a drive in at least two other vehicles to prove whether it is true or not (and even then it might still be unacceptable :thumbdwn: )

My stereo has done that as well, I think there is a software update that fixes it.
