Its Under N/s/f Bumper Grille

Excuse me bumping this old thread, but my external temp reading has gone silly (showing +20 when it's frosty outside!). I'm searching for the location of the sensor. N/s/f bumper holds the horn and headlamp washer, o/s/f bumper is full of wash bottle Any other ideas on where it might be?

Bit off topic, but is the horn behind the grill on the N/S/F?

The temp reading sensor should be there under that grill.

Yes, that's where the horn is - but can't see the sensor...

Thanks,

I have a compact air horn that I never got around to fitting, so no I know how to get to it :D

Sorry I can't be more help on the sensor though. I'll have a look this evening though.

I guess, that external temperature sensor in O2 is in the one of the external mirrors.

But I'm not sure in which of them :o (I'll bet on driver's side).

Definitely not in a mirror. I had a Xantia that had the sensor in the mirror and if the sun shone on the mirror housing you had a real whacky temperature reading. Was useless anytime it wasn't dark!

The information I have states below front bumper.

So all I can suggest is if it isn't hiding behind one of the grills then it's time to get the car on ramps and take the under tray off to see what you can find I'm afraid.

If it's any help the wires to it are supposed to be brown and green.

The ambient temp sensor is on the nearside front under the grill. It comes off the same loom as the fog lamps and near side horn all protected by black coil sheathing. The sensor itself is connected to a two pin plug almost looks like it goes nowhere. The sensor is only about 2cm long with a black pea shaped end, and round fitting. They only cost about £4.00 to replace.

Take care removing the old sensor as the receiver fitting is part of the loom and can't be bought!
