help where do i start,ok its a 1.9tdi octavia

car started reving of its own free will turn engine off key in hand engine still reving its bo##ocks off

i believe there is something to do with an oil seal and the turbo which will feed off the engine oil????

on trying to restart the car it appeared to be turning over faster than normal as if there was no compression or the timing belt had gone when the car did eventually start there were no obvious signs apart from the engine felt shaky(juddering) like there was an engine mount gone or something like that, but there isnt.whilst drivg it home(very slowly)you can hear the turbo whistling but the car seemed gutless(dont know wether that was just me being cautious driving it(also apears to be a sucking noise as if its drawing in air)

help

ceri

Checking your other post (Welcome to the site by the way) I see you drive a 1.9 Octy Diesel.

It sounds very much like you are 'dieseling', have a check on this thread http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-ii/anyone-know-what-dieseling-means/68567/ and do a site search on the word for more info.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its a good chance your turbo is gubbed

Cheers

ok just started strpping the car and when i took the exhaust down pipe off theres the shaft with the impeller(i think its called) rattling round like a good un

now i need to get the exhaust manifold off and the oil feed pipe and the return,i presume there is one,oh yeah and a little vacum pipe, then its ready to come out.

what a dirty stinking job this is fair play.....(note to self get engine bay steam cleaned lol)

p.s. im not a mechanic

Hi!

Scroll down the "main" site, until you come to the DervDoctor - and check it out.

If you must change the turbo - why go for an original?;)

Yikes...

Unfortunately it sounds like youve got some bent valves :( - ive seen it happen before.. the engine burns the engine oil thats sucked in the inlet from a blown turbo and will rev out of control until something breaks.

no bent valves car runs smooth but no turbo obviously as its knackered

but i knew what was happening as soon as it started and managed to stop it by stalling it to stop it blowing anything up..

Hi!

A guy I know have a Audi A4 TDI - 2000 mod. Originally it was 110 hp - now over 170.

New injectors, the 130 hp - turbo, and a custom remap are the most important part of the story.

Pulls cleanly from 1200 to over 4500!! And very little smoke!:)

I can get more details, if it is interesting...
