Furby Vrs and Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Has anyone out there selected the sat nav as an option on their Furby Vrs ( or any other skoda) and is it worth the outlay? Also does it let you select addresses by postcode?

No. It is not worth the outlay. It is cheaper and more convenient to buy a PDA and Tomtom navigator. There are free overlays and programs from www.pocketgps.co.uk where you will find most of what you need (including a gps speed camera detector).

www.digitools.co.uk do a free postcode search add on for it which works very well.

www.poiplace.com is another.

Stopan1j has oem satnav on his barge in elegance trim. Very very nice. Does have some nice features (using latest software) such as warning of accidents / roadworks ahead in realtime.

IIRC, in terms of postcode searching, it gives you 1st part + 1st number of second part. So not full postcode, but better than just 1st part :)

I agree with Rooboy though - tomtom is relatively cheap and does the job and you can get full postcode support with addons ;)

I have the OEM Double DIN Colour sat nav in my Superb, on the Superb, not sure on the Fabia, it has also Infornmation display if wanted in the multidot display area between speedo and tacho showing stereet name roundabout etc in addition to the map screen. The multifuction steering controls also control cd track, radio search and volume of the integrated radio.

The unit can take external AV feed with an adapter.

It a blaupunkt unit and is very well specd if not getting a bit old now as its been around for many years and was/ is fitted to various VW's,Audis Seats although with different colour lighting and in the case of the Audi a different face plate.

The Unit uses teleatlas disks that stay in the unit, the seperate 6 disk cd player is controlled by the unit. UK since 2004 now has available TMC coded disks, as long as the FAbia is fitted with a TMC box in conjunction with the navigation unit. If TMC equiped motorway hold up transmissions and text messages are received by the unit for it to divert if necessary for motorway hold ups in conjunction with the navigation unit. The Superb now is but you would neeed to check for the UK Fabia.

Teleatlas disks for UK is about
