I had a short journey back from the in laws and I was in the garden near the car when I heard an odd noise like a beep but far away.

Wandering round it was coming from the front of the car and it was quite noticeable when I lifted the bonnet.

It was like a regular electronic squeeky beep. Or maybe air escaping form something.

Never heard the like on a car. I managed to catch it once with the video capture on my phone but I don't have my laptop handy to download it.

It was coming from the front of the engine. Below the cover.

Anything to worry about? Might phone the dealer tomorrow.

dont think so mine makes all sorts of noises for a few mins when shutting off. especially after short journeys

I know my old Audi would beep if a door/boot/bonnet was left ajar when you locked the car. I remember sitting in the house wandering where the noise was coming from and it turned out to be the alarm system warning me something was wrong. Not sure you are talking about the same though.....

I've not noticed it today.

It was bizarre. It was between an electronic beep like a motherboard beep code or the squeal of air escaping a balloon.

Car is going fine so probably a 'characteristic' rather than a fault.

where are u i got Vag-Com and can run a scan for you if you aint too far away

My FSI sounds like a modem dial up coupled with some clicking for a few seconds after switch off.

I assume its normal? Several others here have mentioned it before so assume/hope it is.
