Why oh Why .....

Didnt Skoda just fit projector lamps in all of the Fabia's? Rather than making two different types?!! less manufacturing costs, AND It would make it so much easier converting to Xenons! Discuss!!

True that you would get the economies of scale if more of them were manufactured, but they don't due to cost reasons. No matter how many you produce, when you factor in the other mandatory requirements of headlamp washers and an automatic levelling system, they will still cost more than the standard lamps.

This would affect particularly the entry level priced cars, making them more expensive than their competitors, resulting in lost sales. There will also be additional revenue lost as if standard fitting, they will no longer be on the options list at extra cost. It may also affect the insurance rating as they are more expensive to replace.

Here all the vRS Fabias were sold only with projector lamps and xenon and all the stuff that comes with it. I don't really know why in the GB they didn't do it that way.

Less street lighting outside of towns? Fewer motorways? For commuting (90% of my mileage), I never drive on roads that aren't either lit, or where you don't really need the extra lighting power anyway (like motorways)...

Cynics might say it's to get a captive maintenance market. That's what put me off xenons: the fact that when the unit eventually blows, it costs quite a lot to replace, and can only be done by a dealer (I think - heaven knows it's hard enough with filament lamps! )

I see what your saying, but ive seen various different cars running projectors with halogens, so other makes/models just stick with projectors for both applications.

Also just out of interest, how much is a reflector headlamp to replace? and the projector? Cheers

xenon with projectors are great! its a massive improvement, even without xenons, projectors are good. i've got xenons on my gs, but no projectors. not as good though.

i've seen projectors for sale for the fabia, but the angel eyes put me off big styleeee

im hoping and wishing that one day i will see a furby in the scrapper with rear end damage, and a pair of projectors still there waiting for the taking!! lol very unlikely methinks! So come on how much for projectors from Skoda?

If you get in contact with FK or Ultra, who make the angel eyes for various cars, I'm sure they would be happy to put RHD versions with projectors into production provided you can get enough people interested with Fabia's.
