new car sealing coaching.........

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I want to seal and look after me octi II, but have no idea where to start.

Ideally would like someone to do it with me, going through the steps, picking the right products - although i know this is a very imotive subject, so that i have the confidence to repeat the process 6 months from now!

Anyone willing to help? I am happy to part with me hard earned green stuff!:D

I am in west yorks, but working in wigan if that helps........................

Whereabouts in Gods Country exactly?

I can give you a few tips, but I am a miserable sarcastic *******, and you probably would take offence to my humour.

Tell us a budget as well as that will help us decide what to go for

I reside in Halifax, much to my embarrasment...:o

If you want I can give you a few tips, as I tend to like a clean car..... ( although both of ours are covered in dog spit and mud atm )

I am working all over the weekend, but pm me your moby number, and if you like I'll try to arrange to meet and help you out.

On the proviso that a cold beer is available of course.......:D

Well I don't want to spend a fortune as maybe some of the keener detailers on here would, but I want something that is going to do the correct job. i imagine i am going to be looking at a 100 quid to set this all up properly

I have two cars to do, my race blue VRS and SWMBO's altea emocion red.

If you're on a low budget:

Hardware/Tools:

- 2 Buckets and a Microfibre wash mitt (Total about £10-15)

- Microfibre drying cloths (2 for £15)

- Assorted MF cloths for glass/inside/etc (About £15 for the lot from tesco etc)

- Old soft toothbrush for the wheels or an AG wheel brush (£10)

- Some stardrops (60-70p) and a small spray bottle (£1) for cleaning wheels and any really dirty bits of the car before cleaning.

Cleaning:

- Tesco Eco Shampoo (£3) , BiltHamber Autowash (£8), Zym0l Autowash (Green stuff from halfords @ £5.99)

To polish and seal:

- Autoglym SRP or Klasse All in one (AIO)

- Follow with Autoglym EGP or Turtlewax Glossguard

- Follow with 2 or more layers of Collinite 476s wax (£18 kit from Elite Car Care with cloths and applicators)

If you can afford it then get a pressure washer, but if not just make sure the car is always wet and that the MF cloth is nice and clean before you use it on the car body.

If you dont want to go too OTT then go with an Autoglym kit.

If you want to go even deeper than that then give us a budget and we can tell you what to get and more importantly how to use them

I think they stated £100 and tbh for that money the kit I mentioned including buckets should far outperform the plain AG kit.

I think start simple and then next month add another £50 to the budget until you have the items for all the internals too.

Whoops so i didnt read that post

Here is what i would say with links as well.

carwashnwax - product code TOWASHK bucket and grit guard are important to maintaing your finish

WHEELKIT - again for wheels

A different company again i know but its a good kit

Collinite 915 & Carlack Kit

Both these waxes are good for both colours, race blue for the skoda and emocion red for the seat?

Do the windows get any specific attention at all?

Wax's will be fine.

If you want something for the windows then something like Meguiers Fast Glass is good

I use the TW premium fast glass but the Megs stuff is fine.

Both the sealant I mentioned (TW Gloss Guard or AG EGP) and both of the Colli (476s and 915) waxes will be just fine on both of those colours.
