Three child seats in Estate?

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just joined Briskoda as we're thinking of getting a nearly-new Octavia Estate Tdi 1.9, following the excellent reviews I've read on Price Comparison and consumer reviews at Ciao etc. :)

But my specific question before I do is.... can the car take 3 child seats in the back for three kids, currently aged just 3, 4, and 5 (nearly 6) respectively? And, of course, will it have enough space as they get bigger over the next few years?

Why this is a really important issue is that we haven't got the kids yet: we're going to be adopting them soon! :) So we need to get the car choice absolutely right, over the next couple of months.

I know there have been some similar postings about child seats, but having searched, none of them answered my question precisely.

Thanks

APR

I have the vrs, although the front seats are different I imagine the rears will be the same in your choice of car..........

I have 2 ISOFIX seats in the back, one is for a 1 yr old and the other is for a 5 year old. The latter been one that converts to a booster in time.

As we use the ISOFIX points, this puts both seats closer to each other thus leaving less of a space in the middle.

If we need to have an extra person in the car we have to use the eldests ISOFIX with the seatbelt alone so it moves out the way giving more room in the middle.

We can then just about get a booster seat in the middle. If we were to move both outer car seats then it would make it better.

It will all very much depend on your choice of car seats as well as car, some are wider than others.

All I can suggest is that you get a couple of hours test drive in an estate and then go to Mothercare to try some seats in there.

Where abouts do you live, maybe a close by member in a similar situation that can help you try seats etc?

It may be a bit tight depending on seats/booster design- though its a great car with a huge boot.

I also have 2 x ISOFIX seats they are britax ones - They don't leave a great deal of space in the middle. If you fit the seats using the seat belts there is more space in the middle.

My children are a bit younger and their seats are up to age 4.

Halfords were helpful with the seats but you need to pick a good time to call when they aren't busy.

If you are around S Yorks you are welcome to have a look at my setup.

Best of luck!
