Windows Misting Up on Inside..

Featured Replies

Hi all

I wondered if its only me who has trouble with my windows misting up inside the car? When i return to my car after a shift at work , and its clear and its between say 2 and 4 deg C , my interior glass is covered in condensation. This never used to happen in my various Capris , or my 2 Mitsubishis , and I hate wiping my interior glass with a cloth as it marks it all when sunlight hits it. Anyone know a fix to keep them clear , or get them clear quickly? I know the aircon doest work below 5 deg C , currently I'm using the fan on full blast , temp 19 degrees , on 'demist only'. Would rain X anti fog help?

Whack your temp up to full on 'ECON'

Direct all air to 'Demist' setting and close your facia vents.

Open one of your windows very slightly.

Sit back and watch the world appear before your very eyes.

Do you put any damp clothing etc in your car or do you park it near any standing water or vents?

Do you leave it parked with the vents open or closed?

Are you by nature, a very sweaty person?

Just the facts please, just the facts...

I sometimes get this for a few days after it's been raining - however,

I think my problem is related to the pools of water which form in the

passenger footwell whenever it rains

Might be worth checking if your carpets are moist (easier if your mats

aren't fixed in!), as you might have the same problem.

Back into Horners again next week...

Hi Rob,

Mention to Gary the pollen filter, it has been know to leak occasionally.

(tell him Ian, Colin and Huck told you about it, he knows about us  )

Good to have another northerner, what do you drive?

I had heard something about Golf's suffering from cracking pollen

filters, so it would make sense. The first time they said they'd replaced

a gasket which sits through the bulkhead which water can leak through,

the second and third time I think they just dried the carpets out.

Actually, thinking about it, I first noticed the leak shortly after the

ventilation was fixed - the "blower" worked but nothing was coming out

of the vents, and this was diagnosed as being a problem with the filter.

It's all starting to fall into place now

Should I be worried you all know the service manager so well? :D

Nothing exciting on the vehicle front I'm afraid, was rather limited by

budget and insurance (young male on first policy), but wanted a nice

large car. So I ended up with an Octavia 1.6 Ambiente, one of the

year-old low-mileage ex-rental cars from Horners. And I'm very pleased

with it - nice to drive, economical, and it's the only hatchback I've ever

come across that can carry a dining table and six chairs in the back

(flat pack of course) :)

Cheers for the advice,

Rob.

lol, Gary has given us good service, guess he has to 'cos we gang up on him!

I think the mechanics look forward to mine going in anyway

What colour is it? I'll keep an eye out for ya - if you see a white 4x4 estate with tints and a "BRISKODA.net" sticker in the rear window, tis me!

(light green 4x4 estate with sticker will be colin, red RS with private plate probably Huck... :D )

Mine's silver, but doesn't really have any distinguishing marks except

for a bulge under the front bumper (embarrassing incident involving

hooking and then unhooking it over a low wall  ).

I'll keep an eye out for you, though most times I venture into Manchester

itself I'm trying to avoid people darting out in front of the car shouting

"TAXI" at me...

That's easily remedied, you want a "BRISKODA.net" sticker in the rear window!

I've got a problem with misting up - any cold damp day and it's misting up all the time, no matter whether the climates on auto or econ and set at any temperature

Making sure the windows are clean helps apparently

I know VW's suffer the same and my boss's

Mk 2 Jetta 16v - the best 'Q' car ever made!

Mk 2 Jetta 16v - the best 'Q' car ever made!

Mine was Monza blue (turquoise)

Big bumpers, 16" OZ's (huge back then!) lowered etc etc

Loved it!!
