1.3L CO emission on MOT limit

Featured Replies

1.3L 1995 Felicia now 54K, passed again:), but looking at emission CO results this time 0.20:confused:, was 0.10 last year, plugs and air filter replaced a month ago .

Same MOT tester man on MOT pass as well, I heard the engine revving as he tried to get it in limit.

And how to recheck without a tester:(, I have seen Gunson Gastester's for sale, Ebay etc. any other cheap way to do it ?

Seems without an analyser its pot luck whether it will pass:mad:,

anyway another year :D.

Apparently giving your car a really long run before the test, so it can heat all the way through, can help cut the emissions. As you'll note from the test results, they do check the temperature of the engine but would be warmer after a long run.

On googling I have read 'rubbing alchohol' in the tank does a 'quick fix' temporarily.

Further googling brings 'rubbing alchohol' equals 'isopropanol' which equals dry fuel additive !

:D

Rubbing alcohol is also known as isopropanol, which is short for isopropyl alcohol.

What about running some injector cleaner through it, sort of nowish?

Whats in injector cleaner ?

Is it isopropanol ,(rubbing alchohol) ?

Old bottle of Dry Fuel, (well matured had it since my days of diesel),sitting in the garage states on the back that, it cleans injectors, and good for petrol and diesel.

Doesnt say whats really innit tho.

Injector cleaner is mainly ethanol (im led to beleive), not so sure about isopropanol, but you have to be carefull when adding your own ethanol into the fuel tank as any more than 5% could damage your fuel lines and injectors
