You waited till 70k for the cam belt change? That's certainly brave at 10k overdue. Would be interested to know what kind of condition it's in when they change it. :)

Diesel is 80K or 4 years, so its 10K early, good luck on monday.

Sorry? It says 60k (or 4 years) in my service book. It's been discussed a lot on here too as to the change interval. Lemme dig out some threads....;)

60k or 4 years, which ever comes first I'm lead to believe.

Will be doing mine at about 30k (just over 3.5 years) because I'm paranoid about the belt snapping!!

Good luck mate!

My little vrs is going in on saturday for the 40k and first mot, just preparing the bank card!

Think it is the most expensive service and mot I have ever paid, but want to keep it with skoda till warrenty expires and look around.

Had mine done at 4 years (only had 40-odd K on the clock so was nowhere near the 60k mark).

my vRS was an 80k cambelt change, and I ran it to 80k with no probs.....

gl ;) hope the console bushes arn't a prob on the MOT!

my pd130 was changed at 80k. Wasn't the 1.8t due at 60k?

Wasn't the 1.8t due at 60k?
No. It was 120,000 miles if it lasted the course.

The cambelt interval was 80k orginally, this was later changed to 60k or 4 years.

this is for the pd130

I stand corrected.

Well after having two go at mega bucks I tend to do it as early as financially possible

My first to go bang was a COMPANY Astra, servicd every 10k (six weeks) I drove out of the garage at the 30k service and after five hundred yards it went bank, that was then a new engine

Next was the COMPANY PUG 206 seviced every 10K (five weeks) got to 50k six months old and bang another new engine

Now MY Skoda Fabia VRS it was in and done with metal impeller at 39K and 3yrs ten months

I am a bit paranoid about cam belts

Yes I am talking about two company cars out of thirty odd, one every year but Two out of thirty, good odds but I do not want to chance it when "I" am paying the bill :-)

It just shows it can and does happen on well serviced cars too

How did the motor get on then?

I ran my Golf 4.5years over due on the timing belt front.

Hadnt been done in 8.5 years, then a tentioner collapsed and i decided to change it! HA!

With 80k on the clock you dont see any real difference with the timing belts compared to the ones that have done 60K or less.
