ECU Upgrade at service?

Featured Replies

Hi Just got my vRS back from it's second variable service. It was caried out by our local dealers.

When I took it in I was told there was a recall for the ECU to be carried out. I have a warrenty slip for this & a gear knob as the paint was peeling as follows:

Warranty Recall 24k5

Warranty Install Gear Knob due to peeling

W 1Z0798005 Repair Kit

W 00001006 Sticker

The guy on the service desk couldn't give me an more details about what had been carried out & why, but the car drives much smoother now, so anyone know if this was due to this work or that it was just "ready for a good servicing"?:D

There is an ECU update, although I am unsure what it resolves.

The ECU is bad new though for those who have remaps, because the remap will be erased by the update.

Pretty well discussed and tbh nothing new Bruce.

Sticker should be in the boot under the carpet and service bok annotated.

Supposedly resolves an issue with the MIL - Sounds a bit thin to me but that is the explanation.

Cheers mate, I've done a Vag Com scan & since the update I've got a trailer fault!! & all other fault codes from before the service are still present. Some I know can't be cleared yet:thumbup:

I'll check with the dealers next week as some predate the service by a few weeks (fuel rail pressure low) & haven't been reset.

I thought they would do that at service?

Fuel rail pressure low? Can't remember were you running OEM software?

He is now if he wasnt...lol.

Usuallly GFF will clear all fault codes down if it can after the update.

:)As far as I know It was standard, but last time on a rollers, it was near 220bhp!!:)

It was the 213hp in the Bio that drew my attention

If it was OEM SW then the low rail pressure, if it appears frequently, would worry me a little. (Camshaft wear).

Although this is VWOA and it refers to the BPY, the BPY is the US equivelent of the BWA.

Cheers mate,

I'd better get that checked then!!!

I'm not aware of a similar bulletin for the UK market so you might have to let them find out for themselves.
