Morning.

As soon as the wiring is sorted I had in view having getting it converted to lpg.

As this site is so helpful has anyone experience or recommendations for this to be sucssessful?

Hope the new superb is less problematic!!!!!!!!!!

Mixed bag, there was a taxi fleet of converted Omega's some yrs ago, drivers reckoned it used twice the fuel running on it and the cars misfired and hesitated a lot and are now back to diesels, however another guy had a factory Omega LPG and claimed it did around 26 to the gallon and was problem free until about 125k when it developed a lumpy idle, he's now a derv boy too.

LPG is a complete waste of time from every viewpoint. Many "conversions" are amateurish and just cause grief. There are hardly any fuel stations. The tank takes up space. The engine efficiency is poor. Taxi inspections are very dear. The Govt. can't be trusted to maintain the tax advantage after you've converted it.

VAG cars are available with some good diesel engines. Buy one of these.

rotodiesel.

Plus I dont think you can take lpg converted vehicles on the Channel Tunnel. I think they're OK on ferries.

There are plenty of lpg stations and if you have a TomTom satnav you can add them onto the display, so distance to closest refuel is a few button pushes away.

Many conversions are dual-fuel so starting is done on petrol only changing to lpg when the electronics decide.

The tank take up boot space (not a major problem in the Superb) or you can get a do-nut tank in place of the spare wheel.

I had a Saab 9-5 2.0 turbo convereted to LPG. That developed hesitation problems too. 24mpg vs 30mpg on unldeaded. Apparently LPG is "fussier" than other fuels, so problems that may have been there already, manifest themselves quicker under LPG.

I'd possibly consider an LPG which was fitted by the car manufacturer, but not a converted car.

I've now got a Diesel Superb, and an unleaded Saab 9-5 2.3 turbo :D
