Underseat storage?

Featured Replies

Hi,

This pic was posted a while ago (won't say by who as they appear to keep their satnav in it occasionally!); it's a handy under seat storage box i've seen a few times now.

Can anyone tell me if i'll get it included when my new car arrives? It'll be an L&K with the heated memory seats and all that gubbins so I don't know if there's space for it to fit. May be standard on ALL octavias regardless, but I thought i'd ask you guys since you seem to know more ACTUAL facts than most of the dealers i've spoken to about various things recently. Also, is is just on one side or both or what?

Cheers,

Matt

you should get one on the passenger side, not on drivers side unless your on the continent or you fit your own from parts (existing threads exist on this via the search)

Can you retro fit one to the drivers side then? Even with the heated memory seats (as you can gather, i'm guessing there'll be less room because of the added wiring, etc., but I don't actually know!)?

You get them without the memory seats on the elegance and L&K and probably others too.

As you say though the memory seats have more motors etc, so you may find you can't fit them to it.

Came on my Vrs

No underseat boxes for Octy2 mith electrical/memory seats. There is no room for the box as bellow the seat are motors. I've checked it over and over because wanted them for mine, but wasn't possible.

So do I not get them on EITHER side because of the heated bit in both seats then? The memory bit can only be on the drivers side, surely, so i'm taking it that the passengers side can fit a box or am I wrong?

you do get it on the passenger side, ive got it on mine and have mem/heated leather

Elegance model, no heated seats, certainly has passenger underseat compartment - all the peperwork and manuals etc were in it.

If both seats are memory then no, but if only drivers then yes.

Why would both seats need to be memory?? It's only the driver's seat positioning that's important to remember due to the pedals and steering wheel, surely? Did you mean if both seats are heated?

Yeh sorry.

lol

That's a bummer. I don't understand why a car might only have one heated seat though?

What is the spec or year of your L&K then Birdwell cos Sworrall says his HAS got the box? Obviously mine hasn't been delivered but will be brand new, but perhaps they changed between having it and not having it, either way round, at some point?

Someone mentioned keeping a sat-nav in this box - is it lockable?

no

You can get the storage bin under a seat that is not electrically regulated. I have an Elegance with electrically operated driverseat (with memory) and manually operated passenger seat. Both seat are heated, and I have a storage bin under the passanger seat.

The heating doesn't prevent you having the box, it's the electrical motors for the height adjustment etc.

The heating is just a thin pad in the seat itself and some extra wire.

If the passenger seat is manually adjustable you should be able to fit a box under there if it doesn't already come with one.

We have to understand some differences here. Seat can be:

- Manualy adjusted

- Electricaly adjusted with or without memory

Any of these two can be heated as an option, independently if it's manual or electrical.

Underseat storage box can not be added to electricaly adjusted seat. Doesn't metter if it has memory or no. My Octy has both front seats electricaly adjusted but only driver's seat is with memory. Non of them can get underseat box fitted.

So, underseat box can only be added to manualy adjusted seat and it doesn't metter if it was heated or no.

Gotcha. Nice complete answer I think! Just wondering what my L&K will come with then, electric/manual - box/no box?!

Well, my Octy is called "Sport" and I've been told it is equal to L&K in UK. If that was true, you'll get both seats electrical and driver's one with 3 memory positions. This is first car I've got with electrical seats. Before car had arrived, I knew that it would have no underseat box. But new toy (I mean electrical seats) made me forget storage box. When driver's seat has memory, when storing seat settings, it stores mirrors positions as well. Nice toy, don't you think?

I dunno, when I wanted to test drive a 1.8t, the only model they had available was an outgoing one called a Sport, so I don't know whether it is the same thing? Same engine, yes, same spec, unsure.

In the UK I believe the sport is an ambient model with a body kit and some sports bits (wheels suspension etc).

The L&K in the UK was much lower spec but is now very high compared to before. I'd just ask if the passenger seat is manually or electrically adjustable fro your dealer.
