Funny noise in gearbox

Featured Replies

I have had my 05 Octy II 2.0 tdi for a month or so now. Everything is great apart from very occassionally when changing gear it wil make a crunching gear sound but only for a split second. It may not even be coming from the gearbox but doesnt seem to happen when driving along normally. It happened last night when I has just changed from 3rd into 2nd. It is definately not my driving because it also happens to my husband. It has only ever happened 4 or 5 times but I am concerned the clutch may be on the way out. Its only done 30k.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Maybe something to do with the DMF.There is a recall on these at the moment.

If its only happening between one gear change it wont be the clutch and dmf issue dont lead to poor gear changes. I would think its an oil or syncromesh problem.

I hope not. The place I bought it from checked it out for me before I purchased.

Its not the end of the world. It has only happened once for me in 2 months and about 3 times for my hubby. Maybe we are rubbish drivers :P
