Hi all again,

After looking all over for brakes I've managed to find some brand new standard Mintex ones from a mate for next to nothing if I want them.

BUT

They are 312mm discs. Apparently originally advertised for my car, the non VRS 1.8T (I'm guessing there is no way they will fit?) he bought them partly in error.

I'm wondering now what other parts I would need to make them fit and roughly how much they will cost?

You need a set of caliper carriers for 312mm brakes, thats it.

Pads, calipers etc are the same.

Any ideas how much I should expect to pay for these and is second hand a good idea to save the pounds or do the carriers wear out quickly?

Carriers wont wear out, new iirc are about £100 each.

And just to clarify when I said I could get some Mintex brakes what I meant was just Discs and Pads.

Sorry, I'm a novice and it just seems to be a lot cheaper than most of the upgrade kits I've seen elsewhere.

Yup the calipers are identical.

All the carrier does is move the caliper further out to make room for the larger disc.
