Charcoal Cannister

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

At idle, the revs on my 1.8T bounce between 750 and 500 and there is a smell of fuel. However if I accelerate hard after it has warmed up, idles normally and the smell disappears. If I sit in traffic for a while, the revs bounce again and the smell comes back . As you can imagine fuel economy is :thumbdwn:

I suspected the charcoal cannister and did a search on the forum. most of the queries center around the ticking noise fro the cannister. I checked mine - there is no ticking sound to be heard or felt.

Does anyone have any suggestions to the cause?

If there is a fellow briskodian near Northolt area, London with a vag com I would appreciate it if we could check the codes

Your throttle body could need a clean too. Theres a guide somewhere on here.
