Water pump confusion...

Featured Replies

Guys,

I'm due a sevice and at 70,000 i haven't had a cam belt change done yet, so will get that done at the same time.

I've read on here about waterpumps and thought I'd go the whole hog, but my question is, do I need the waterpump changed, or just the impeller (or are they inseparable)?

Many thanks,

Steve

You need to change the whole pump as it's a complete unit.

There's two options OE which is plastic impellor or third party which is brass.

I don't think skoda advise changing the WP when doing the belt but most people do as it about £25 and connected to the belt so you may aswell while it's all off.

There's another reason aswell..................http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-i/anyone-doing-belt-pump/80669/

Thanks for that - I'd seen your thread - that was what had started me thinking. I'd seen various references to the impeller failing, but then saw your picture of the whole pump.

Anyway - thanks again, just off to scare myself and get a quote now
