Featured Replies

i have to change my clutch as it is slipping . i have been told i have to change the flywheel too, at a much higher cost, as this is a weakness on the 1.8 t vrs . is this the case? also been told to change flywheel from dual mass to solid ,is this better/ good idea ,just about to get car remapped .

Yup

It seems you have been given correct information

SMF and clutch kit , works well on your car

The DMF used to be approx £66 ish + VAT

The SMF with a clutch , half that price

found a full kit on ebay for £170 with free delivery with solid flywheel saving about £100

sorry to be a retard! but what is a dual mass flywheel? and what are its pro's and cons over a single mass one?

my idea of a flywheel is a big heavy wheel on the end of the crank with teeth on the outside for the starter. i need a refresher course!

Found this now:

They are a well known PITA, mine siezed after 30k and was replaced although I couldn't tell any difference tbh.

The dealer said they would change that and the clutch so who was I to argue:)
