Snow foam questions

Featured Replies

I've got a bog standard pressure washer (think it was a Powerbase one from B&Q) which has a small reservoir tank attachment which fits behind the spray lance. Would I be ok using this with snow foam? And can anyone recommend a good place to buy snow foam from (the usual suspects like Halfords don't stock it)? Cheers.

Edit: Before someone says I'm killing a cat....:D I did check the other thread: Snow foam. - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forum and Community but it didn't answer my specific questions.

I have got my snow foam from here in the past Autobrite Direct - Because Looks Are Everything!

Not sure about your pressure washer, iirc the karcher foam lance is low pressure so is your lance variable? or permanently set pressure?

IIRC it's probably permanently set (that's what you get when you buy a £20 pressure washer!). Am I right in assuming that the amount of pressure determines how effectively the foam clings to the car? I'll have a peek later on. Thanks for the web link.

I would imagine that if the foam is coming out at xx psi then it will just 'bounce' off the car. (should make the drive look pretty tho )

There's a few factors to consider on how it foams to the car.

The amount of product you use.

The type of product.

The mix at which your lance is set at

Wether the car is wet/dry.

Even down to how dirty your car is...

If it's not that dirty, the foam will slide off easily.

I've had a B&Q pressure washer for a few months now, but only just got some snow foam yesterday so not tried it out.

I think that your pw is different to mine though. The resevoir you are talking about I belive is just for general detergent and if you have a foam lance it should have its own resevoir

I bought a EZ Jet 110, that included a foam lance. My foam lance looks like the one in the linke below, but the back part is plaggy rather than metal

Foam Lance (Kranzle M22) with 500ml bottle

As someone else said if the foam is coming out at pressure down the pipe through to the gun and regualr lance that can't be good....I think if you put snow foam in the detergent resevoir you could expect to have a big ibiza style foam party on your drive!

there is next to no info anywhere about the b&q pressure washers - believe me I have searched a lot. the B&Q website doesn't even list its own branded pw kit that you can buy in store....who makes them I don't know, and I'm, not sure which manufacturers accessories would fit....luckily mine came with all the accesories I'm going to need!

Come to think of it, the drive could do with a clean! :D I'll check the pressure on the washer and then order a bottle.

Make sure it's the correct fitment for your pressure washer too.

Yeah, I just looked on their website to see if I could find my one and post up a couple of pics. Bought it about a year ago. You can be the guinea pig as I haven't got the snow foam yet! Let us know how you get on. Think I'll have a go on my own car before I try it on SWMBO's.

sorry just slightly edited my original post didn;t expect anyone to respond so quick!....

the foam lance that I have came with the pw and I do not have a detergent resevoir on the pw itself, so everything should be hunky dory for me

sounds like you are going to have to buy a foam lance separately and I;ve no idea what suits the B&Q pressure washers in terms of the attachment types....

...I know mine is a bayonet type fitting on the gun, but how standard it is is anyone's guess!

BTW if you care cleaning the patio or whatever you won;' really need detergent...that's the point of having the pw in the first place, the pressure cleans everythig off without having to use any chemicals....I have a patio cleaning attachment with a couple of wheels on the side, but wasn't that impressed with it, I got much better results from the variable highj presure lance....be careful what you use it on though as it might actually damage some paving depending on how hard/porous they are....

Hmm, yes I will need to get a foam lance as it's just the reservoir attachment that came with the washer. I'll check the fittings and try and get some pics up. Another nooby question - is the foam lance fitted to the end of the pressure washer's lance, or between the lance and the hose pipe, or do I not use the pressure washer lance at all?

You attach the foam lance where you would usually put the variable pressure lance or brush etc attachments, eg at the end of the existing lance.

I have pw...then long black pipe to the "gun" which has the on/off sort of trigger thingy on it... then the various lances or other attachments go on the gun with bayonet style fitting
