Hello - Servicing contract query!

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Just a new boy, so be gentle with me!

Have a 2.0 FSI vRS Octavia Estate on order and have been offered servicing as part of my PCP. It'll be an extra £17.56 pcm for servicing and maintenance with an extra £8.11 for tyres. Anyone in the membership with experience of these deals? Just wondering if it'd be worth a go, or a needless expense on a brand new car? All valid opinions welcomed - many thanks!

Kind regards

Ross

Hiya.

Check the price of servicing against the cost of the PCP deal, based on the mileage you're doing. A similar argument applies to tyres.

Welcome :)

Hi Ken - can you expand on that please? Thanks.

The servicing costs on your car will only be for scheduled services; the warranty will look after actual breakdowns. What you have to do is work out whether or not £X per month is more or less than you'd be paying for servicing over the contract period. £210.72 a year is slightly less than twice what I've actually paid for 2 inspection services and a brake fluid change, but YMMV, based on how many miles you do a year, and labour rates. Similarly, a fixed cost per month for tyres might be a good deal or not, depending on your annual mileage (it would be a very bad deal for my mum, but £97-32 a year might be worth my while.
