Octavia 1.9PD TDI DSG strange sound

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Had my octy for around 3 week now and it seems to have generated a strange noise in 3rd gear around 1800-2000rpm mostly, it first appeared to be coming from the wheel arches but after puting my head in strange places while driving I think it maybe from my wastegate.

The sound is had to explain and can only demonstrate it by doing it lol, only way i can explain would be imagine a chav gurgleing a spit up its like a short speeded up version of that. (gawww - spit) You'll have to do it at your computer to see what I mean.

What do you think this could be? Car is under warrenty so can take it back but would like to just say to them hey look im pretty sure its this, and im sure its coming from the wastegate.

I also have a small problem around 1800-2000 rpm in 4th when abit of stress is on the engine it will tend to jump abit like fuel starvtion, could this be the MAF? as the air filter I took out when I got the car was proper crapped up.

Im giving it a good service myself this weekend with oil change, fuel filter, oil filter.

Any help would be greatful

Regards

Steve

Hi,

Just got my dad to give the car a run and I put the car in 4th up a hill got my dad to go inbetween 1800-2000 rpm and it make the noise only for a few seconds like grrgrrgrr, its abit like somthing scrapping but I would have expected it to do it all the time.

Any ideas?

Got the car booked in for next at Skoda week see what they say.

Regards

Steve

Edit: Dont think its from my wastegate either anymore

Do you have an update from the dealer?

Is the noise the turbo trying to spool up?

Is it the right gear to be in for the hill and the noise is made because the engine and gearbox are struggling?

Is the weight of the Octy acting against the relatively low revs?

Hi,

Thanks for you reply. Got car back they said they found nothing and have done a full diagnostics :(.

I would have expected more a judder if i was in wrong gear?

But it could be that there isnt enough rev's as more pedal cures the problem.

I'll see how it goes

Regards

Steve
