since March I am the happy owner of a Roomster - the Comfort kind, corrida red and with some extras.

I have a question for the more knowledgeable Roomster owners around this forum - I want to protect the seats' fabric, which translates into seat covers. Does anyone know where exactly on the seat and how long is the space that has to remain free for the side airbags?

I ordered a set of seat covers from the dealer - after a looong time they were delivered and promptly returned. There was no way to fit them onto the seats and the side airbag had no way to deploy. He had the nerve to tell me that the seats have to be taken out completely and this operation can be done by a trained person only and, of course, it would cost me around 100 euro each time. :eek:

So now I need some generic covers which won't impede the side airbags. This is the background for the above question.

I'm not sure if you will easily find a car seat cover that's suitable for side airbags without contacting a manufacturer to find out what their recommentation will be. Even most seat protectors I've had in the past have at least required elastic to go round the seat back. You may get a seat protector that fastens to the seat via the head restriant, and that will cover the bit you sit on. Or, you could attach some tapes to the top of a seat protector and use the head restraint to hold it in position.

The problem resides with the dealer (or lack thereof) - there are only three dealers and one of them is, as I suspect, the main importer which supplies everyone else. It's the one I bought the car from and the one I ordered the covers through. They ask a lot of money for Skoda manufactured covers (600 euro). And I suspect also that Skoda's recommendation would be to buy their covers.

As I see it now I have a couple solutions:

1. To modify the covers I already bought - the kind that looks like a shirt;

2. Take a trip to Prague and see what can be found there.

I'll probably cut the lateral band of the ones I have and maybe use some velcro to keep them in position.

Why protect the seat covers beat the hell out of them then replace um under warranty! Or if too far out of it then worry about ordering new apolsrty... Better yet come time you may wish to replace them scrap the whole set of seats & upgrade the interior to the Scouts from a pick & pull!!!

Is it beacuse you have a messy job or kids, or are you wanting to protect them for the next owners benefit? Clean seats count for nothing much at trade in

@Stephen McVicar - neither - I like to have a clean interior, I hate the cleaning process and I live in a dirty environment. It's a lot easier to clean or replace the covers than the seats.

Covers fabric same difference... Had my niece throw up on the back seat bout a month after I took delivery just had them replace the fabric seat cover under warranty as it shouldn't have stained!!!
