Allard EGR Pipe

Featured Replies

Hi People

I have just got the above pipe, however being of limited mechanical expertise I have asked a mechy mate to do it. He has flagged up a few things, firstly once the old egr pipe is off what happens to the butterfly valve and the mechanism tjhat moves it. He said this helps stop the engine when you switch off, can someone put me straight about this pipe as I have done a search and heard great things about it.

Sorry to go on but its the first of my many power upgrades to be started.

You lose the function of the anti shudder valve, and the EGR is capped off using the blanking plate that Allard should have supplied with the kit.

The two vacuum spare pipes? Well, I have sealed them with a couple of golf tees, but you could leave them open. Likely to get engine light, but needn't worry as it's just the EGR throwing up a fault which you actually want to happen when using this pipe. Developments in progress to map out the EGR, but I'm not that clued up on it.

STupid question but does the anti shudder valve make that much difference, I have heard some people have mapped out the fault codes.

You'll notice the lack of ASV (well it's not called an anti-shudder valve for nothing ;)) on the first couple of times you shut down as the engine is stopping more like a stall, than having that valve cut-off the air inflow instantly. :) I've run without ASV for a long long time now and I'm perfectly happy with the way my car turns off (i.e it actually does turn off :D)
