Skoda extended warranty

Featured Replies

I assume just before our Octavia turns 3 years old we will be 'invited' by Skoda to extend the warranty?

Has anyone got any idea how much it currently costs (2.0 TDi) and how good is the cover?

I bought an Octavia 3 weeks ago and I extended the warranty for two years only paying an extra cost for my car insurance.

Insurance covers theft/fire/glasses and it costs 150 euros a year.

I am not sure if Skoda offer this kind of service (be strange if they did not though). I was never offered an extended warranty on my old Mk 1 when it hit 3 years old. However, if they do offer one and it is as good as the skoda plan I had for my old mk1 and now on my current mk 2 (it is a scheme that gives me all my servicing, maintenance and tyres for 3 years for a monthly fee of around £30) then it could be worth having.

However, I would shop around as there are lots of extended waranty products on the market meaning that prices are often good. I used to have an extended waranty product on one of my old Fiats from the CSMA. This used to cost me around £180 a year and covered most mechanical/electrical parts of the car (including starter motors, electric windows, turbo etc). It also had an MOT failure section which covered parts that failed the MOT and this included brakes etc. I claimed several times on the policy over the years and each time it was effortless and saved me significant amounts of money. The policy could be taken out on any car under 6 yrs old or 60k miles if I remember correctly. Certainly once the 3year waranty runs out if Skoda do not offer another one then I purchase a 3rd party one.
