Do you have a factory fitted MFD2? Need your help pls!

VIN number needed!

This is my first post here at this great forum although I have been a regular reader since I got my car back in May 2007.

I have an Octavia II 2007 bought from Oman. We only have one Skoda dealer here and the cars seem to be kitted a bit differently than they are in the UK.

Anyway there was no option for MFD2 and it came with Stream MP3. I had a friend in the UK buy the MFD2 of ebay and have been studying Stu's great guide in detail so I can fit it in when it arrives.

The problem is that I need the surround facia trim and my dealer here, who are also the dealer for Audi and VW, said it is not available and can only be ordered if I provide a VIN number from a car that originally came with the navigation unit! crazy I know but they are not that helpful.

they are also going to charge me +200 OMR (around +400 GBP) for the navigation CD! Crazy I know but it is a monopoly here:( I tried to contact Bluespot and Navteq and they said the only way to get the CD is through the dealer in Oman.

So would some kind soul help me with a VIN of a car that came factory fitted with an MFD2! I tried to tell them that it is not my right to ask someone for their VIN but they said it is the only way!

The Octavia that is imported here seems to be a bit different too. There is no navigation option. The 2.0 FSI comes with dimming side and rear mirrors, leather seats, beige interior, 16" rims, Stream MP3, but wait for it, only speakers in the front!!! I only found out after I bought it and only when I said I will return the car they fitter the rear speakers for free! talk about cost cutting! There is also no Maxidot, Xenon, parking sensors, or sunroof. Only the 1.6 MPI comes with that stuff. Octavia VRS is also not available at all although I really wanted it!

I am happy with the car and never regretted buying it, but the dealer is not helpful at all. They are not happy that I bought a navigation unit from the UK either! For the record I did reserve a Golf 2.0 Comfort edition but bought the Octavia instead for practicality reasons.

I already spent money on an MFD2, video adapter, and ipod adapter. I hope you guys can help me! Oh and the Air con is having trouble cooling in the temperatures here! Reaches around 45 degrees mid day! I did also have the air noise issue and after one year they agreed to change the door seals. Now it is much better. The Dunlop Sport tires that came with the car were really noisy, so again after fighting with the Dunlop dealer here for three months they agreed to change them under warranty to Dunlop Direza Sport tires which seem to be much better.

Sorry for the long post but I thought I will let you know the whole story!

Why not get your UK friend to get you the fascia sent out?

thanks for the reply, but my friend is coming back from Brighton next week so probably wont have time to get this done:(

Parts ordered from dealers here only take a couple of days to be delivered so should easily have enough time to sort it for you!

not as easy as that. He is finishing exams and his MSc dissertation at the moment. Kinda complicated.

Looking at it from another side, is there a shop/person that will supply this and ship it internationally?

Thanks.

You will need to find a specific VIN number.

You do not state if your car has climatic (semi-automatic air con with manual dials) or climatronic (dual zone digital climate control)

You will also need a car with the correct colour trim, you do not say if you need black or silver.

Here is a parts summary:

1Z0 858 069 B 9B9 - Trim for climatic switch for vehicles with navigation system satin black NO PHONE SLOT - £4.76

1Z0 858 069 F 9B9 - Trim for climatic switch for vehicles with navigation system satin black PHONE BRACKET SLOT - £4.76

1Z0 858 069 C 9B9 - Trim for climatronic switch for vehicles with navigation system satin black NO PHONE SLOT - £4.76

1Z0 858 069 G 9B9 - Trim for climatronic switch for vehicles with navigation system satin black PHONE BRACKET SLOT - £4.76

1Z0 858 069 L 2AU - Trim for climatronic switch for vehicles with navigation system bright aluminium NO PHONE SLOT - £15.65

1Z0 858 069 Q 2AU - Trim for climatronic switch for vehicles with navigation system bright aluminium PHONE BRACKET SLOT- £24.30

VRS195,

Thank you for your reply. I do have the dual-zone climatronic unit. My doors are beige and black with aluminium strips, so it is quite strange that the center is black rather than carrying with the same theme therefore I want the silver trim.

I did give out the same part numbers as above which I obtained from Stu's website.

I need someone to correct me, but is a part number enough to order the trim? does my dealer really need a VIN of a car that originally came with MFD2 or they are just stalling and being difficult?

Thanks.

Part number is adequate.

So they are just trying to make my life difficult! Thanks guys I will try to convince them again.

They probably aren't trying to make things difficult they just want to make sure you have the right part.

I have a black one you can have, a few small scratches here and there but still in good shape. You could even respray it.

No cost.

PM me if you are interested.
