difference between Octy1 and Octy2

Featured Replies

I'm a newbe to the Skoda world and have searched this forum for an answer to the question but can't find one. I bought an 04 Octavia estate 1.9tdi 66kw from an independant dealer and he couldn't tell me either. Can anyone tell me how I can find out for definite what I have, eg what are the glaring differences?

Thanks in advance.

So hang on.........You need too tell which mk you have bought 1 or 2. Am I right ?????

I would say you have a Mark 1. A quick way to check would be to look at the back liht cluster and does it have a clear section in the shape of a C in it then it is a mark 2. If the clear sections are 2 parrallel lines then it is a mark 1.

Or the fact that they're two entirely different cars lol

At first I had difficulty seeing the difference

Quickest easiest check:

where are the side indicator repeaters? If you have a little orange light in the front wing then it is an Octy 1, if the repeaters are in the door mirrors then it is an Octy 2

And that they look different generally.... :rolleyes:

Also, the Mk2 has multi-link rear suspension, which is clearly visible underneath the rear of the car

Another obvious one is that on the MK I the front wings stop where you would expect, but on the MK II they come well into wher eyou would expect the bonnet to be at the front.

Oright oright! Deliberate mistake, honest.......

Mk2= fat and ugly

Mk1= slender and sporty

It's kinda obvious if you have functioning eye balls.

Skoda Octavia Estates didnt come out until very late 54 Plate anyway, so you definately have a Mk.1.

It's kinda obvious if you have functioning eye balls.

Many thanks for all the input. Got it sussed now.

All the best.

Its so blatantly obvious in design differences.

The differences are obvious when you know, but if you are not familiar with the products, and have nothing to compare yours too, then it's totally understandable to be unsure.
