How much would you say this is worth?

Featured Replies

Skoda Fabia 1.9 TD Vrs 5-Dr Hatchback

Saw it in there a few weeks ago and looks clean. Obviously it's worth less than advertised but buy how much? Also it says it doesn't have a trip computer or cruise control. I could always retrofit cruise control if I wanted to but surely the trip computer has just accidentally been left out as all other vRS's I've seen have one.

It will have a trip computer, i'd say by the low price market right now around £7500-8000 private and £8500 dealer

It has Xenon's which is cool

main dealer prices are always fairly high, i'd say thats spot on to be honest. mines had a tag over £9k on the window last august and its a 54 plate.

Id say that its about right as its at a dealers.

You always pay a premium

My mate paid about that for a 55 plate with only 14k on the clock. That was 4 months ago. Personally I'd want to see £400-500 knocked off that price.

alot of dealers do knock off some discount though to make it seem like a good deal sometimes though right?

I was expecting this to go between £7k and £7800. This is what Parkers say it's worth and they always over estimate prices. Plus I know this car has been there a good while now so hopefully you could get more discount or even stuff thrown in?

I paid the same for my car (almost identical to that but with 6k less) back in January. Extra bits I managed to get thrown in were :

£800 trade in for my golf

DVD headunit fitted

Console bushes changed

New wipers all round

Air-con re-guass.

So ask, and you should get.

I got my June 04 with identical miles to that last August for £7.5k

A that's good to know. Wouldn't mind them giving me a few extras. Do you think it would be too much to ask for all the doors to be resealed as a precaution or is that looking for trouble?

Ah good that's around what I want to pay for it. My budget is a little tight, being a student.

Why are you looking at spending that much on a car then?

I'm only 34 , but when I was at university , students had cars costing £1500 at the most.

I live at home so no housing fees although I do give my parent's rent and run errands for them. I'm in Wales so that's plenty of grants and loans which don't have to be paid back for a while. Most of that is in savings accounts to gain interest. I have a part time job which is paying for the car. Takes ages to save though so I thought if I'm going to buy a car, I may as well buy one I will want to keep for a good few years, which is why the Fabia is the perfect choice.

Most of the people my age have cars that are worth up to £4k if bought by themselves, More than this if they have daddy paying for it on finance. But these cars are usually basic Clio's and Corsa's. If all goes to plan I'll keep the vRS until i've finished Uni and got a proper job.

How do you know it has xenons? I've never has them so I don't know.

That's an Ok price. I'm sure you could get £500 off.

Why not look in the 'For sale section' on here and buy a real bargin :D

Little round headlamps inside the big ones, and the headlamp washers are a dead giveaway. It also comes with self-levelling suspension as part of the Xenon package, which may or may not be an issue if you want to drop the ride height.

Self levelling suspension? Do all cars with xenon's have this. I know of cars that have xenon's and have been lowered but never heard of self levelling suspension before?

I've never heard of self leveling suspension being on mine, and if it is my mechanic mate who lowered it didn't mention is. Xenons have auto-leveling beams, and the ballast for these is on the rear suspension set-up, and lowering had no effect on this system at all.

Thanks for this confirmation. I want xenons on the car and do want to lower it by 25mm.

might be a bit late, but i'd have said that price was a bit high. my 06 was £10,000 with 9000miles on the clock with full leather interior (the SE style leather seats) that was bought just over a year ago now (about 13months) And yes it was purchased from a main dealer

Thought it was a little high. Shame though that it was sold a few weeks ago. :( Seemed a nice car too.

As there is this "Credit Crunch" thing going on at the moment and the car market struggling, how much play do I have now when haggling down the price? After all a sale is a sale to a dealer even if he makes a small profit. Looks better at the end of the year.

sorry mate i've never been that hot when it comes to haggling (i always bottle it!) i would have thought if you were savvy enough you should be able to get a nice reduction though. it might be worth travelling a bit aswell. also try dealers with other manufacturer dealerships in the same area (thats the only reason i can think for mine being about £2000 cheaper than my local dealer) the dealership i went with is in northampton which if i remember correctly had renault, vw, and ford all on the same retail park (i guess the healthy competition helps to drive the prices down - although i could be wrong)

i wouldn't bother buying from a stealer, their robbing ********,look for private advertised, their sooo much cheaper, got a 54 plate 40000 fssh ,cruise and extended warranty until sep 09 for 5700 it pays to shop about

some people just prefer dealerships (myself included) dunno if these are any good to you? (i'd still try to haggle or get some goodies thrown in)

similar age and mileage - Skoda Fabia 1.9 TD Vrs 5-Dr Hatchback

6months newer and lower mileage - Skoda Fabia 1.9 TD Vrs 5-Dr Hatchback

i'd be tempted to get the leather seats fitted too (but that just because i'm paranoid about getting cream suede dirty)

56 plate 16thou miles with leathers - Skoda Fabia 1.9 TD vRS 5-Dr Hatchback

these are all within 100miles from swansea i belive should shouldn't be too long a journey

Yeah I usually bottle and don't push as hard as I could. That's why I'm thinking of taking a mechanic friend with me who knows a lot more about cars than I do. Hoping he could help me knock the price down.

He knows about the leaky doors and suspension bits that go wrong so hopefully he could knock them down on this also. I have been thinking of getting them to reseal all four doors as a precautionary measure as a general consensus on here is that they go on all Fabia's so best to get done as soon as.

mine havn't gone but i guess its only just over 2yr old
