Brookroyds in Harrogate any one used them

Featured Replies

Hi

I was wondering if any one has used Brookroyds in Harrogate for servicing Brookroyd Garage As I am thinking of using them for my 4 year service on my VRS.

Many Thanks

Simon

Not had a straight service but bought my Fabia from their garage 2 years ago.

They gave the usual 'it gets a full service' when I bought it so I decided to check if it did once when I got the car home and they had done a decent job by my reckoning.

All the filters were new, oil on dipstick was new and they'd done the rear discs and pads and front pads, couldn't fault them really.

Brookroyds I belive is owned by Peter Chapman, and is connected to the Batchelors of Ripon group [ may be wrong though ]. I have friends who use Brookroyds and rate them highly. I have bought a few Skodas from the Original owners and still retains there reputation. I'd use them over Large dealerships every time.

My only worry was that they said that the cam belt didnt need doing at 4 years old.

I think alot of dealers say this, and they must have some technical update from Skoda. My dealer says 100,000 or 10 years for the Fab vRS and with such matters they should know the latest info from Skoda.

Can't comment on that Simon, Maybe if you called in they might be able to put your mind at rest by showing you in Black And White......Phone Dave, the service Manager at Benfield on Knaresborough Road and see what he say's..........Andy

They did say that they had never heard of the 4 year cam belt change which I find very strange. I think that they are very honest and good value for money but this could have invalidated my extended waranty, so not sure now.

I will give Benfield a call and see what they have to say about cam belt change intervals.

They should indeed so why have they got it so wrong? The time interval was revised to 4 years in May 2006. Read the post below and then the thread which contains it:

Yep I have used them once and ONCE ONLY!

I had a bearing noise from the left side of the engine The head engineer soon explained it was the power steering pump for sure so they would order a new one and fit it. When I came back to pickup my car the bearing sound was still there. They said they would now have to fit a new alternator???

I said the best thing to do is to refit my old power steering pump and I will pick my car up I also said I was a bit disappointed at the service.

On arrival it was explained to me my car was fixed??

I was happy in one sense but they had not followed my instruction which I could not believe.

It then gets better the owner came out from behind the scenes and started ripping in to me about the "been disappointed bit" it was all getting a touch heated.

I said just give me my bill (£400) I will pay it and leave.

What a shame an honest mistake diagnosing the fault was made but then to expect me the custmer to pay for the mistake. oh dear me.

I really can understand why this is not a SKODA MAIN DEALER.:finger:
