I think the time has come to treat myself to a new head unit and I'm after some advise from the guys in the know.

Long gone are my days of carting around 6x9s and subwoofers in my boot so my standard speakers are fine, so I've no need to worry about pre-outs or unit output.

What I'm after is something that'll play MP3 discs, preferably also read MP3s burnt onto DVD discs, and has a green fascia (To go with the whole green skoda thing my vRS has going on).

Anyone know of such a device? Cheers in advance,

I think so, I love Alpine units, usually very easy to use, sound good and look great.

Another vote for Alpine, great H/U and a good price.

The alpine 9884R is the updated version for that, can have an iPod plugged into the back and has the faster, percentage, search for scrolling through tracks. You can also turn the illumination off for driving at night which is fantastic. I'll pop up some pics later on if you want to see it fitted in the Octy to guage how it looks?

I have had alpines for about 12 years and they have been very good.The only one i didnt keep was thye one with the glide touch bar that was impossible to use whilst driving.Good sound easy to use and well made.

I just bought this and you can set the colour to 1 of 4069.

Just press colour match and then press stop when the colour matches. Its mp3 but not GigaMP3

What about a becker?

I'm gonna think about getting a becker unit when the funds allow for my new fabia vRS when i get it........

Becker are great and very OEM but have you seen how much they are :eek:

That second one isn't much more than the first, and still a bargain if it offers those extra features! Cheers for the input guys. Get paid this weekend so will buy one then and get some pics up asap!

For me it has to be green, with Bluetooth (which allows calls and music streaming) and front Aux connection.

Alpine do those kind of HU; but the BT is not working properly; too many bad reviews to take a chance.

Keep the ideas coming guys; I have been looking for a website that allows you to select Headunits according to a criteria, but no luck so far... :roll:
