Featured Replies

Hi

Still having problems with these lights coming on radomly.Today came on while doing 3 point turn and steering went as heavy as hell restarted engine every thing is fine again.Have already put new battery on her and steering sensor was changed under warranty back in January as car is now out of warranty don't really want to take it to main dealer as could be an arm and a leg but could the sensor be another faulty one.

Mike.

do a full lock to right and full lock to left should cure it, if not its gonna have to be a dealer unless you want to get it checked with a vag com lead first of all.

Hi

Did try a full lock each way the other day and the warning light came on on each full lock just seems wierd that sometime you lose the power steering and sometimes it fine.

Mike

The pump is cutting out for some reason, you need a fault code check to determine why.

Hi

Been looking through all the posts i can find on the VW forums and it seems it could be water getting in the the sensor or the pump or the alternator which is apparently linked to the power steering pump?.

Having said that the car was fine for a few weeks after i put a new battery on it but now its started doing the same as it was before i took it in to the main dealers as it was them that said it was a voltage problem so should they have really said change the alternator not the battery or would that have shown up as a different code on there vag com???.

Mike:confused:

if it stopped when you put on a new battery and is now starting up again it sounds like thebattery isnt being charged up properly by alternator which could be on its way out very quickly.

Bugger

Is that an expensive job?

Seems a bit poor on what is only just over a 3 year old car.

Should that have shown up on vagcom or would it have pointed more towards the battery. can have it checked to see if it is charging can't you.
