will a seat cordoba gear box work in an Ocatvia?

Featured Replies

Guys -

I've just been informed by my garage man that my 1.6 liter 2000 Octavia gear box is shot and needs replacement. He's quoting me €1200+ for parts, however after phoning around to a scrap dealer I've been offered a Seat Cordoba gear box for €500.

My question is would this be a massive gamble. I know Seat and Skoda share chassis and are both derived from Volkswagen so would this be ok?

octojoe.

Cordoba is basically an Ibiza with a boot, so I'm going to say no on this.

If it was a Toledo with the correct engine I'd have said it was worth a closer look , but not for a cordy

Maybe. Check the gearbox codes for both cars.
