FMIC for 1.8T 4x4

Featured Replies

Hello to everybody.

I have read a lot of posts written here about this subject...the most similar one with my issue is here:

http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-i/front-mounting-intercooler/91833/

Well, it is about time to upgrade my SMIC with a better one, then will come the exhaust system.

I know about Forge FMIC, but the price exceeds my present situation, so I have digged a little on SEAT forums and I got this piece of information: the FMIC used for SEAT IBIZA CUPRA 1.8T 180HP will fit perfectly on my car. Engine code for Ibiza Cupra is BBU, mine is ARX.

Please, help me on this...will it surely fit without any cuts and mods?

Are there any other alternatives for me?

By the way, the price for Ibiza's FMIC brand new (in my country) is 260 euros which suits me, so please be around this value more or less if you have in mind other offers.

Thank you !

change of subject mate but can you post a few pics of your car? looks good in the pic.

cant help wi the FMIC as I gone for the forge....

Any help will be much appreciated !

Briefly, it has Ferodo DS Performance brake pads and bigger front discs, plus Castrol SRF brake fluid. Just some of the present mods.

It's off-topic, so be excused:

I will be going down this route in a few months once SWMBO has released the funds.

I am going for a 27"x6 or 7"x2.5" with 2.5" inlet/outlets. The main thing to remember is it doesn't matter what engine the Ibiza has, the FMIC has to fit in right. The octy engine bay in front of the radiator is large so fitting shouldn't be a problem.

Find a cooler that will fit and work the piping around that.

I've got a 1 meter length of 2.5" pipe coming and a universal intercooler kit, just need to find a cheap/decent intercooler now.

You will need a map sensor pipe as the current one is in the top of the smic. This is available from forge or you can buy the flange seperate and weld it onto one of your new aluminium pipes.

I wonder where you got all that information from???......LOL

He he, cheers again for pics Gerry. They saved me from a potential mistake.

Hope it will go together as easy as i described it .

All I can say is if you can afford it BUY the ABD FMIC :D

I had the Pro Alloy fmic removed and had the ABD fmic fitted(Thanks Gerry & Andy  )

My car now drives like it's been remapped AGAIN :D

It is so much better for my car as it's not to big(I was planning bigger turbo but decided against it on the costs)

More boost no lag = :D:D:D

The ABD does look a nice piece of kit. Are you gonna go back to IP for a map tweak or is it not worth it?

No the map is working just fine :D

I can honestly say it like driving a different car now

OK, but where can I take this ABD FMIC from and for what price? Do you have a link or something?

ABD are based in the US and I think the intercooler is a little more than you wan t to spend?

ABD Racing: ABD Racing Intercooler (core only)

You can get the whole kit(Intercooler & fitting pipes/hoses) from Impossible Performance around £650 here in the UK

It was worth getting dirty just to watch you trying to rivet the splitter to the bumper without first drilling a hole for the rivet, it must have been very hard to push those rivets through the plastic.................LOL

Just to echo Fezboys comments, I have had an ABD Racing FMIC on mine for a few years and cannot fault it, no lag, and it does exactly what a FMIC should do.

Andy, I did tell you that you would really notice the difference with the ABD Racing FMIC fitted.

Thanks, but the value is quite high, as you have suspected.

Still waiting for someone who knows more about Ibiza Cupra's FMIC, code engine BBU, same engine with my car though. :handshke:
