Rude Wax

Featured Replies

Sorry if this product has been discussed before. I am a big Autoglym fan and always keep my car clean and polished. I saw an add on Ebay for 'Rude Wax' and thought I'd give it a go in place of my A/G Super Resin polish. I have been very impressed with the results which appear to keep a nice 'wet look' to the paint. Good value for money too (paid around £7 including post) Anyone else used it??

Wasn't rude wax a brand of surf wax. I'm sure I have some somewhere along with the kangaroo poo, mrs palmers and sex wax etc.

Eh up Cheezy' Well at least I got a reply.. Seems these 'detailer guys' dont think much of 'Rude wax' then!! :thumbdwn:

I like the Colli 476s as it looks pretty good over a well polished car and lasts for ages with 2 coats too :)

Tried some new wax the other night, butter wax cant remember the brand but it was ace, piece of pi55 on and off and left a nice wet look, was chuffed

But with all the waxes, you also have to look how long it lasts.

If you want something to look great then P21 looks great but needs doing every other week.

Colli looks good, but not as good in many peoples opinion, but on the flip side lasts 6 months to a year with just two layers.

Dodo is apparently a good compromise.

Yes someone else recommended 476s to me. Must try it. I tend to wax my car every 3/4 weeks as I enjoy doing it so even though the Colli' lasts ages (I think they claim around 6 months) I would still tend to use it more frequently. Costs a lot more than my usual tipple I must admit!;)

Quite possibly, but you don't actually need more than a couple of thin coats applied with a foam applicator for the best part of a years cover.

I have a bit of turtlewax gloss guard on my paint and a few coats of the colli and it has lasted since last september and still going fine. I do intend to do it all again when i get a good dry weekend though.

ive got some zymol carbon wax which im going to try on the fabia. Used it on the golf and was easy peasy on and off

If, IMHO, a touch on the pricey side compared to other offerings :)

i wouldnt normally buy this wax, as you say it is expensive. I got a Zymol pack for winning GTI international best MK3 a few years back so it going to get used on the fabia, when its gone i think i'll be buying megs high performance or collionite :thumbup:Possibly dodo juice but thats pricey at £33

Will be interesting to see how well that Carbon has fared, if it's been stored for a few years. Where's it been kept? Not sure of the carnauba content of that particular Zymol off hand, but it is possible for them to start to detoriate and break down/dry up. Just a thought...

Onto the Rude - not used it myself, nor heard much about it. Will have a look round DW later :)

I'm a fan of 476 too, but perhaps critically as a base layer. I tried this out last year, with quite a bit of success. Two coats of 476 24hrs apart, then Victoria Concourse as a final coat.

In my view this is the best compromise to the whole durability vs. look debate. Have a solid protection base that will always be there, then keep the standard of gloss and depth upto scratch with a less durable but more 'concourse' standard wax as the final coat. This can then be topped up as appropriate. That said, I found Victoria offered a couple of months of 1st class beading and finish, even with Manchester's finest weather conditions :D

Cheers,

Steve

The zymol carbon MUST be kept in the fridge after its been opened and this is where its been kept. 37% carnuba.

2 coats of 476 is something ive been thinking of doing when the zymols gone. The top coat of wax will be one of the 1s i mentioned tho im prone to changing my mind :D

The paintwork needs to be HD cleansed before applying the zymol carbon so no 476 first BUT a few coats of carbon should be ok for a few months?

Time will tell :P let you know how its fairing with this typical "up north" rain we be getting :(

Well I finally got the Colly 476s. Just tried it on bonnet as weather looks 'iffy'. Wow!! Forget the Rude Wax!! I intend to do whole car as soon as a dry spell comes along. Two coats as you guys recommend.

Leave some time between the two coats.

If you can I'd do a full clean and a layer on saturday then leave the car over night. Give it a quick wash and dry the next morning then put the second layer on.

I'll certainly try it as you say mate. You were certainly right when you recommended the Colly. Thanks.

:iagree:

i was reading somewhere that the collinite doesnt actually last 6 months in this country its more like 2-3 months on the car.

That's certainly not been my experience. In some applications, I've found it's quite easily exceeded 6 months while still providing paint protection and water beading.

Two coats since September last year and it's still beading very well thank you :)
