drivers door and drivers mirror not working

Featured Replies

Hi to all iv just bought a 52 plate octavia estate and the drivers door dont lock/un lock on the key fob, All other doors work fine. I cant hear no noise to indicate that its trying to work either...... and the drivers mirror dont work on the switch. When i turn it to the left/right it does the passenger mirror.. A big thanks for any body who can solve this problem:confused: cheers switch..

water ingress into the convience unit possibly. Otherwise maybe an earthing fault in the drivers door. Does the electric window work ok?

yes mate the electric windows and the door light works fine

This is a very common fault on the octavia and is normally to do with the 29 pin plug on the drivers door wiring loom which plugs into the convenience unit. Mine has started to fail for the second time and its only just over 3 years old

When the previous replies refer to the 'convenience unit', they actually mean the door control unit, each door has one, in this case the drivers door one is suspect. The convenience unit is located in the dash area behind the main light switch.

can you give me details to sort this out please mates....

take off the drivers door trim, look for said "door unit" and check the state of the connection plug/block in to it. The Octy is quite good at getting water inside the door which can cause corrosion, and thus poor electrical connections.

A quick search on here will reveal guides on how to get the door trim off - or even a read of a Haynes manual if you have one (yet!), is relatively accurate for this task.
