Fitted my Carbonio

Featured Replies

Fitted my Carbonio today ,id thought id give it a go myself and with a few cuts and choice words i did it.Here it is fitted,it was a bit of a tight fit but got there in the end,i havnt got any mechanical experiance but always willing to try something at least once:)

After letting the engine idle for about 10mins after fitting i took it for a quick spin, and WOW i love it! It reduces turbo lag and sounds awesome

QUESTION: How does it make the turbo sound woosh twice as loud?

One prob i have and i havnt done it yet,the kit came with a breather filter and i cant fit it to the breather hose it just wont go in,how did you guys do this?

Any ideas ?

Thanx guys!

he sound is because your standard airbox acts as a muffler.

As for the breather check out this Pimp My Skoda!

How did you fit the breather filter?

Not, but Rob Clubley. I think they just plug in the end of that breather pipe and then just cable tie it up.

PM Rob, but bear in mind he's in new zealand so may not get straight back to you as he is probably asleep

It just seems that the small tube connected to the filter is too wide and it wont fit into the breather hose

Don't worry, i had EXACTLY the same problem!!!!!

In the end it took a lot of persisitence and even more swearing. Eventually i trimmed the plastic fitting on the filter with a stanley knife to make it fit the hose and fastened it in place with a jubikee clip. It was by no means perfect but it's still there after a couple of months:thumbup::thumbup:!!!!!

It can be done you just need to swear more, you know what they say about 'brute force and ignorance' :D:D.

Hope that helps:confused::confused:

As for the comment in your sig about your splitter - you get used to refixing it (i've re-done mine twice in 3 weeks!!!).

Oh i can certainly swear more,im good at that;)

I might give that a go tonight then when the kids are in bed and the missus at bingo

Idont know if you saw that program on tv about men who are in love with their cars, well trying to get the breather on today i did get a funny look off a neighbour while i was grunting and swearing whilst leaning over the engine bay,i hope they wasnt thinking i was...you know...with the car...Hut hum...anyway il give that a go later:D

cheers !!!!!!!!!!

Didn't have any of this with the ebay one, Straight on in half an hour.

The connection to the secondary air pump just clipped onto existing pipe work.

Now clean the rest of the engine bay! ;)

:rkick: Haha.

Looks good that, can I ask - does the splitter do anything or is it just for the looks? Was watching Top Gear today where they had the BMW diesel doing a 24 hour race at Silverstone. Anyway when the splitter fell off the handling went and it started eating tyres! It was simply a flat piece that looked like it would not do a thing.

Anyhow good job.

I think the splitter is just for looks IMO it wouldnt do much for the car it just gives the car a bit of an agressive look.

I fitted the breather at last just had to hack the filters tube to make it fit in the breather hose but its still tight enough so it wont fall out.

I was going to atempt fitting my Forge splitter r bov but wasnt sure how to undo the clips holding the pipes on the original one on,i guess they are crimped on but i havnt got a crimper, how do you get them off?

I will clean the engine bay soon it is a bit dirty at the mo

I love your car by the way Octavia VRS!

Iv seen your pics of it and its looking hot

Those rims set it off a treat Very nice:thumbup:

Cut off the crimped clips and replace them with jubillee clips.

Simple job:thumbup::thumbup:

Is it pretty straightforward to fit a dv,it doesnt too difficult TBH

Car is looking sweet k04! Glad your enjoying the Carbonio.

My breather filter fitted using a jubillee clip securely, problem was the filter it weighed down the pipe, so I had to cable tie it to another pipe.

Can't wait to see what more plans you have mate!

It's quite possibly the easiest thing in the world;);)

Thanx very much dzign!

The cars still very much standard,i want to do my dv then save for an exhaust, possibly a blueflame (£560)

Afew bits and bobs for engine, lighter flywheel maybe

A remap is probs the last thing i will do

Id just plump for the remap tbh.

The remap is the most beneficial but the zhaust gives a hell of a nice sound when combined with the CAI.

I know when i took mine out 4 a spin after fitting it,it already sounds like iv got a big ol' dv on there.

Its good too, under normal driving you dont notice its there until you put your foot down!

I used to have a renault 19 16v with a pipercross foam filter and a full scorpion exhaust with cat replacement pipe and that didnt impress me at all sound- wise.

Whereas the vrs sounds lush and its my first mod to the car

Loving it!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

lol am i the only one without a carbonio :orb_sick:
